Hi Johann--I must agree with Pinaki; the intent of the image is not readily evident. I like the view up the street. |

Ed--I think the color/monochrome discussion is useful; I find both images interesting. She has so much character and looks like a portrait from ancient Andean pottery. I guess I prefer the b/w image. |

Thanks, Piaki. I like your phrase, "environment is also a character." Well said. I mostly use a Canon S95 point-and-shoot camera. I also own a DSLR and a mirrorless camera but the Canon is by far my favorite. |

Pinaki--I think you are correct that the image does not convey the sense of Venice, but your appreciation for the human moment is beautiful. I like Ed's crop because it removes the distracting white boat and makes the image about the couple. I would like to see her face a little more perhaps. |

Isaac--Such a fun group; the tiaras and sandals and big smiles tell the story of a group of friends celebrating. I really like the one woman on the left looking out of the frame for some contrast. |

Bruce--I really like this image. The background of grey fish and ice contrasts nicely with the subtle colors of the figure. You caught just the right moment, with him looking up at the camera and the body language making an interesting narrative. |

Bev--I think this is a wonderful image. The woman's expression and the tilt of her head are interesting, as well as her arms and hands. The funny square near her head can be removed. She seems so lively with her colorful scarf. Nice work, Bev. |

Barbara--The "falling" pear almost seems to be leaning forward to look over the edge which is a very entertaining narrative. I love your experiments. |

Gerard-- This is an interesting excercise. I had not thought about a definition of "abstract" so your explaination is welcome. The nets make a particularly effective pattern. |

Peter--I'm going to agree with Gerard's crop because the white totes attract a lot of attention. Perhaps even move the bottom edge up to their knees to make their faces the whole story. Just a thought. |

Robin--This made me think of the apple trees in The Wizard of Oz; gnarled and full of character. A very evocative image. |

Thank you, Robin. I'm glad you pointed out the "still" couple; the only figures not blurred. |
