58 Nov 24 Reply Bruce--Yes, I think the dog makes this image work because he expresses boredom while all the humans are busy drinking and talking. Nov 21st
58 Nov 24 Reply Bev--I like the color image, too. In fact, now that I look at it again I like it more than I realized. Thanks for suggesting another look. Nov 21st
58 Nov 24 Reply Thank you so much, Pinaki. Nov 21st
58 Nov 24 Reply Thanks, Ed. I also think the dog seems to be thinking, "Oh well. I guess I'm stuck here for a while." Nov 21st
58 Nov 24 Reply Thanks, Isaac. Nov 21st
58 Nov 24 Comment Sergio--When I first saw this image I completely missed the figure and only saw trees which I thought an unusual choice of subject for this group. Once I saw the figure of course it made sense. I agree with Bev about coming in a little closer so we can better see the interesting-looking woman (who I thought at first was a nun until I saw the cigarette). Beautiful image. Nov 21st
58 Nov 24 Comment Pinaki--The man and the architecture are competing for the viewer's attention. The wonderfully weathered wall and interesting shutters tell their own story and I like the little sign on the right. The figure perhaps represents working class heroes the world over so I wish he had somewhat more presence in the image. Nov 21st
58 Nov 24 Comment Isaac--Groups of people are a favorite subject of mine so this appealing group of schoolkids is interesting to me. The colorful bus really adds color and cultural elements. The worn old lamppost takes too much attention and I agree with Bruce's crop. Nov 21st
58 Nov 24 Comment Ed--I agree with Bev about the color image seeming more "alive". I would eliminate some of the darkness in the foreground by cropping the bottom edge. Is the title meant to be ironic? Nov 17th
58 Nov 24 Comment Bruce--You captured the essential moment with the expression and the hand gesture. The color looks great. Wonderful image; I wouldn't change a thing. Bravo! Nov 17th
58 Nov 24 Comment Bev--This is wonderful. I agree with Ed's crop. I think the canons add an interesting element but they do overpower the figure somewhat in your image so the crop seems to help that. Cuba must be a great place to photograph. I'm envious. Nov 17th

99 Nov 24 Comment Gary--To me this is a picture of water and the boats and buildings are the frame. I like the texture of the water and the softness of the fog. The dark building on the left seems heavy and I would crop up it up to the railing and a little from the top and bottom. Just an idea. Nov 16th
99 Nov 24 Comment John--I agree with Gerard's crop although it's a tough subject with all the background business. I think it would be hard to find a really good way to show these cheerleaders in this environment. The guys holding them up are an important element but we don't see their faces so they seem like clutter. Perhaps choosing a single cheerleader and her "handler" would have been useful. Nov 16th
99 Nov 24 Comment Robin--The figure of the child is somewhat ambiguous since we don't see her face or any limbs apart from one foot. The two men and the train are good. I particularly like the reflective surfaces. Nov 16th
99 Nov 24 Comment Peter--I don't know if it's the background, the expression, the crossed arms or what, this doesn't work for me. There's nothing about subject the conveys "barber"; in fact I would likely have guessed tatooist, but maybe that's just me. For some reason the framed picture in the background seems distracting. Nov 16th
99 Nov 24 Comment Gerard--For some reason I can only see the thumbnail; the larger image is just a white rectangle. Looking at the thumbnail I can see a very dynamic image of a man (if this is a self portrait I think you are very brave) which includes very expressive hands. I like this a lot because the man seems trapped within the frame which is an interesting narrative. Nov 16th
99 Nov 24 Comment Barbara--Another lovely flower study. The cluster of curved lines is expressive like a dancer. I wouldn't change a thing. Nov 16th
