Sergio--This is wonderful. I'm so glad she's wearing a red jacket. |

Ed--For me the image is about the three figures which are interesting in their arrangement, especially the middle one. Therefore, I would suggest cropping quite a bit from the top to eliminate the barely visible white building and make the figures more prominent. |

Pinaki--What a great moment! The only thing I would suggest is to eliminate the light globes and the writing along the top in order to bring more attention to the musician and his "audience." |

Bev--I've never been to Cuba but I've heard it's a photographer's paradise. This is a great example, I think, of the interesting portraits one can find there. The dirty American flag shirt seems to say it all about the fraught relationship the US has long had with Cuba. The decorative door in the background adds interest. This image conveys the sense of beauty and despair that the Cuban people must live with. |

Isaac--I love the humor in this image. The incongruity of the electronics in the sand (which sets off alarm bells for me) and the clothes (a leather jacket on the beach?) really makes the viewer wonder "what's going on here?" I like the woman's pose with the elbows and knees, and the little hand gesture which seems to express frustration. |

Bruce--This is a lovely image with a nice narrative. It's interesting to see into his shop, and to see his profile framed in the window. The only suggestion I have is possibly cropping the bright lights at the top out. |

Thank you, Pinaki. I really like your comment that the architecture is a character; a very interesting observation.

John--I agree with Robin about the darkness of the grey buildings which is quite prominent but perhaps this is the anti-Waikiki. The image of grey buildings marching toward Diamond Head is almost sinister. Neat image using an interesting technique. |

Robin--I agree with others that the vignetting really makes this image work. The visitor seems to have only a cursory interest in the artwork on the walls which creates a little tension. |

Peter--your work with models is always interesting. These two characters seem to have stepped out of a Peter Whimsey story. I think the guy on the left is the spoiled son of the family whose up to no good; and the other gentleman is the head groom who knows too much. I'm just being silly! |

Gerard-- what makes this image sing for me is the birds. This is obviously a very desolate, isolated place and the birds bring contrasting liveliness to the ancient stone buildings. Beautiful image. Very apprpropriate in b/w. |

Barbara--I find this subject very appealing. The textures of the raw wood, the barrel, and the stone building suggest hand-made craftsmanship from another era. I think the warm tone is appropriate (you know I like the look of sepia). Very nice image. |

Gary, I love your narration of this story. Yes, he is focused because he's in the lock and he has to pay attention to what's going on around him. Your enumeration of the various elements really nails it -- thanks! |

Gerard, your idea about flipping the image is interesting. I like your phrase "emotional deshevelment", and the word disorder. That was my impression as well of the guy and his messy boat. Thanks for your feedback. |

Thank you, Robin. I wanted to challenge the viewer a little and make him or her think. Your response was very gratifying. |
