Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
58 Jun 24 Comment Sergio -- Where to begin with this image that has so much to look at? The reflections seem to swirl around the two figures; the white balloon is an important element; the entering bicycle opposes the figures; the interesting hands of both figures; all these elements contribute to the fascinating narrative. Thanks for sharing this with us. Jun 9th
58 Jun 24 Comment Hi Ed-- I agree with Isaac's crop. I like how the shape of her raised knees is echoed by the rock. Jun 9th
58 Jun 24 Comment Hi Bruce -- These three faces are so interesting because they seem anxious rather than happy as one would expect a wedding party to be (I wonder what the groom's demeanor is). They are wearing corsages like a proper wedding party and yet the bride appears to be almost angry with her hands on her knees and her frown. Great narrative; cool image. Jun 9th
58 Jun 24 Comment Hi Pinaki -- What a lovely scene! This is a world of plants and the man and the cat are enjoying the relaxing environment. I like the curved path leading between the walls of green and the red door is wonderful. Very nice image. Jun 8th
58 Jun 24 Comment Hi Bev -- You've captured a neat moment between these two
and I understand the choice to adjust the busy background in order to feature them. Leaving the circus poster in doesn't quite work for me. Perhaps cropping a little closer from the bottom to diminish the white objects in his lap. Blurring a background is beyond my technical abilities so I don't know what could have been done differently.

58 Jun 24 Comment Isaac -- I agree with Bev about the white elements on the sides. Perhaps also crop the upper edge closer to the white "star". I've never heard of this event but it sounds exciting photographically. Jun 8th
58 Jun 24 Reply Hi Bev -- I think you have surprized me with your suggestion. To me the foreground figure is primary while the figures at the back are a secondary echo of the main figure. However, I am glad to hear your idea; challenging the expected is one of the values of these discussion groups. Thank you for being bold! Jun 8th
58 Jun 24 Reply Isaac -- Thank you for sharing the link to the Yolocaust project. I guess I'm appreciative of the artist's intent but not wholly on board with the results. I can see that this must be highly controversial for many people; such a project is not for the faint of heart. Regarding my image: I also feel that the foreground figure is important to the narrative. I like your words "tension", "incomplete", and "curiosity". Likely the selfie-takers fail to recognize these elements. Jun 8th

99 Jun 24 Reply Thanks for your nice feedback, Peter. I'm glad you noticed the bird! Jun 9th
99 Jun 24 Reply Thanks, Robin. Jun 9th
99 Jun 24 Comment Hi Gary -- For me this monochrome image is about the curved road, the figures, and the rock wall. Therefore, I would suggest cropping tighter on those elements; the amount of foliage seems excessive to me. Just an idea! I like the as-is composition of the color version, I guess because the foliage isn't black. Looks like a lovely place. Jun 9th
99 Jun 24 Comment Hi Robin -- Welcome to the monochrome group! I look forward to seeing your images. These beautiful horses are a wonderful subject. The left-looking horse is walking which creates dynamic diagonal lines rather than simply a static shot of two standing horses. The other horse's straight forelegs and dark coat provide an anchor in opposition. I agree the dog is perhaps too light. The choice of the white vignette really shows off the dark horses. Beautiful. 99 Jun 24 Comment Hi Peter -- This is a nice environmental portrait of a bald barber -- I love it! The background activity in the shop contributes much to the story as well as the sign over his left shoulder. I do wish he was doing something else with his hands, though. Jun 9th
99 Jun 24 Comment Hi Gerard -- Chipmunks are very appealing and the little story between these two is charming. Nice job with the composit; I would not have known. Jun 9th
99 Jun 24 Comment Barbara -- thanks for making me aware of Karl Blossfeldt. His plant portraits are certainly inspiring. I don't mind the centered subject composition; it is documentary, like a mugshot (I mean that in a positive way). The lavendar's form is interesting and is well presented. Another beautiful plant study! Jun 9th
