Hi Sergio -- I like that you included the entire puddle and that we learn more about the appearance of the building by looking at the reflection. You were fortunate to have this interesting-looking man walk into your frame with his shinny shoes and determined expression. I think I understand why you chose to let the lines be tilted, but I have to confess I would not be able to resist straigtening them. I like the composition you have chosen with your cropping. Having the subject in the upper area is somewhat unexpected and creates interest. Cool image. |

Hi Ed -- I agree with Sergio that we need more context to understand the story of these two people. The do look like they are enjoying themselves! |

Hi Bruce -- here in my part of the country (Seattle) we were not invited to the eclipse party this time so I enjoy seeing how others experienced it. I like the group of three and their body language, and I like the monochrome treatment. The cropping really works for me; the three people are representative of the larger group. |

Pinaki-- your subjects are so interesting! The two camels decked out in their colorful equipment are surely worth taking a picture. The two drivers relaxing very naturally on the ground with their animals seem timeless even though they are surrounded by modern life. I agree with your cropping although I wish the tall structure just beyond the silver car wasn't so promenent. Excellent! |

Hi Bev -- Regarding the monochrome image which I understand is the indended "final" image: this seems like a very sensitive and thoughtful image of a man who's had a rough life. It's good you were able to take his picture with his cooperation (as opposed to stealth, which is how I usually operate) because you are able to really look into his face and see all the cares there. I think this is a lovely portrait. |

Isaac--I love this image and everything it tells us about this vendor and his wares. The man's expression tells the whole story for me. The colorful olives look so delicious. Wonderful image. |

Hi Gary -- This is an interesting abstract study, however I don't see the "snake" for some reason. I agree with what's been said above. Welcome to the group! |

Hi John -- I agree with Peter. I'm not sure if I want it cropped tighter or more contrast but the image seems muted. The subject is interesting and I want to know more about what his right hand is doing. The white hair and beard are a good frame for his face and his look of concentration. |

Thanks, Gerard. I like your comment about alien skin. I take your point about the sharpness. Maybe I should do a new bok choy series; this one was taken several years ago. For some reason I find bok choy particularly pleasing photographicly (I also like to eat them). |

Hi Gerard -- I love the simplicity and agree with Linda about the appeal of this minimalist image. The snow on the ground enhances the starkness of the setting. I like the way the central trunk is strong-looking contrasted with the veil-like hanging elements. Beautiful! |

Linda -- Thank you! I like what you've done with the image; the lines are crisper. I don't mind the softness of my version but yours gives the bok choy more presence. |

Linda -- I agree with Peter about the cropping. Actually, I would crop the sky out completely and some of the water on the left to confine the subject entirely to the interesting decaying boat and its passengers. |

Peter -- I like this image and the narrative very much. I immediately notice/get involved in the interaction between the woman (and her coat) and the coat on the right which seems to have a personality. It's like the right-hand coat is waiting for his friend the left-hand coat to get off work so they can go out for a drink. Love it. |

Hi Peter -- Your observation about flowing hair is interesting; I think of it looking like some kind of flesh or skin. I see what you mean about the depth of field; I hadn't really considered it. Since it's an abstract vegetable I guess I don't mind some lack of sharpness. |
