Thanks, Bruce. I agree about toning down the red in a color version. The red areas are too dominant. |

Hi Pinaki -- Thanks for speaking up for sepia! I prefer monochrome in most cases but I see the point about the color version. |

Ed -- This is an interesting idea I would not have thought of. Thanks for seeking an unusual solution and providing food for thought. |

Issac -- Well, this is an interesting scenario. I like that you captured this because the interaction between the man and woman is dramatic. The guy on the right balances the composition and adds his own narrative, as you say, minding his own business. Because I like the story I want the emphasis to be more on the figures. I suggest cropping the top edge all the way down to near the top of the woman's head, eliminating the red stars on the beer cans behind her, and also cropping on the right to remove the dark shape. Glad you chose to use color;the pink outfit is wonderful. |

Hi Bev -- The ethnic costume is interesting but I find the face confusing. I think the eye glasses contribute to this, but the face does seem over-processed as well. I also sort of wish the hand was not so close to the face, but that's getting pretty picky. The point-of-view seems a little above the subject as if we are looking down slightly. The background softness seems very appropriate. |

Hi Pinaki -- Another colorful and interesting image for us to contemplate. I see your point about including the piles of flowers (are they strung together somehow?) to show the flower market setting. At first I thought of a tighter crop on the figure such as Bruce suggested, but I do prefer the inclusion of the setting for context. All I would suggest is cropping in slightly closer with the top and right side to reduce the prominence of the white truck in the corner and the hot highlight on the yellow car above the licence plate. Thanks for including the description of the market; it must be a wonderful sight. |

Hi Bruce - I love this image! I like the character of the guy expressed through the cigar; I like the reflection, although I agree with Isaac about leaving your reflection in - why shouldn't the photographer be part of the story?; and I like the plantlife forming a base across the bottom. This is a swell picture, and I think the one of him carrying the ladder has potential, too. Congratulations! |

Hi Ed -- The little girl is very cute dancing in her hat, but the background detracts from the subject. I suggest cropping much tighter on the girl in order to take away the weight of the background. |

Gerard -- What fun it must be to have a lightbox to play with! These beautiful seed pods are a great subject for this. Isolating them against the clean white background works well to show the sinuous curves and highlight the texture. Very nice. |

Hi Barbara -- To me this is interesting primarily because of the spiral at the back. I like how Gerard's version brought the spiral forward more. Another lovely flower study; I'm starting to look forward to these each month! Nicely done. |

Gerard -- I like the added contrast in the ribs. For me the ribs shadow is the important element. Thanks for your nice comment. |

Peter -- Thanks for your interesting feedback. Your solutions produce a different sort of image in that the context of the museum exhibit is removed -- which is not a bad thing. I like your version although I would want more ribs showing. I laughed at your observation about extinction. |
