Hi Linda -- Thanks for the interesting comments! I appreciate how you relate the style of the image to the larger subject of Las Vegas. I'm glad you enjoyed the...snapshot! |

Thanks, Gerard. I'll definately look at flipping it; I generally prefer a "landscape" orientation but this image seemed more vertical. I find your diagonal analysis really interesting. Thanks! |

Hi Michael, I guess I'm out of touch (and I've never been to New Zealand) but I am not familiar with this famous tree. However, the image is beautiful especially the quiet water reflecting the brightness in the sky and, yes, the tree. I think this makes a really nice monochrome image. |

Hi Linda, I love the way the architecture seems to rise organically out of the natural rock. The light is wonderful, especially the brightness on the cross and building. Looks like a beautiful place. |

Wow, Peter. This is a very intense image and a black background would make it even more so. I like the tight cropping because it's really about the face not the whole head. The even light is nice but more dramatic lighting would not be out of place. |

Thanks, Barbara. Las Vegas certainly has lots of photographic opportunities. |

Hi Gerard, I agree with Michael that the clouds seem pretty hot and detract some from the belfry which is the most interesting architectural feature. I am also currious to know how you achieved the perspective. You created a dignified image of a venerable building. I sort of don't mind the tree branch coming in at the top; it suggests the setting. However, it also interferes some with the lovely architecture. |

Hi Barbara, This image reminds me of old botanical illustration. I like HRD and use it alot because it gives lots of shadow detail like you have here. The original is nice, too. It looks like a portait of a plant. Dried hydrangeas are an appealling subject. |

Michael, what a great comment! I'm very glad you enjoy the image even though it breaks the "rules." That's what rules are for, right? Thanks! |

Thanks, Peter! I'm glad you like the chaos. You hit all the points I like about the image: the guy riding into scene; the group in the background;the crazy architecture; and the palm trees. The reason I often use sepia is because it creates separation in cases like this with the palm trees against the dark part of the architecture. |
