Noting your objective I think you have successfully portrayed a sense of depth as although the top section is out of focus I am still led to the waves which are an integral part of the overall story. You have picked a good area to focus on as that section has the largest boulders and appears to be the most interesting section. I would be interested to see the waves/ sky area a little brighter. |

I agree generally with above comments. I like the reworked image much better as you have brought out better shadow detail and the whole thing looks more natural. Even so I like the range of tones and lines in the structural elements, pipes and stained glass and how the lighting has revealed plenty of detail there. |

To me most of the interest is in the windows so I would play that aspect up by cropping about 30% off the left eliminating a large expanse of the blank wall. You would end up with a more squarish format which I believe would be more dynamic. Also as Jerry suggests a boost in contrast would not go astray. I have taken the liberty of doing this by adding (in photoshop) a curves adjustment layer then a levels adjustment layer and just tweaking things ever so slightly as per the screenshots. I am not saying this is the best end result but just an example to pique your interest.....and I really hope I hav'nt offended you by doing this.

All the lines especially those on the roof make this great subject matter for mono and have quite a lot of impact. I totally agree with Jerry. Inclusion of more of the left showing all the steps and a landing at the top would lead the viewer from the bottom up then off to the right along the top walkway which I think would be a stronger composition. |

The thing that grabs me is the quality and luminosity of the image courtesy of some beautiful lighting which highlights the building nicely. It brings out texture and wide range of tones. The soft areas of fore & background work extremely well in the framing of the subject so that it commands all the attention and I like what you have done with the sky so that it does not detract in any way. Your title baffles me; I understand the subject is located in Washington County but I imagine Washington County is a vast region and more than just an abandoned building. |
