I like the edited version. It has a good balance of contrast across the whole image. |

The hand in the water in this instance was an unconscious thing and the surfer probably didnt even realise; more a case of the water was where his hand went. But surfers sometimes do it on purpose to slow themselves down particularly if setting up for a tube ride. |

Nice handling and balance of light and shadow. There is a strong leading line from the open sky down through the gorge to the broken off rock at bottom left. That rock is firmly planted so acts as a foil to stop the viewer wandering further down and out the bottom and so works well from a compositional viewpoint. I like the colours in the original but the bright blue patch drags my eye straight up there so I think the mono works well as it does'nt have that same distraction. |

I love everything about this and the mouthful just tops it off.
Coo is well placed so as to be up front and personal and is nicely separated from the background. The gate adds context and another level of interest. I am pleased you hav'nt tried to brighten the image too much as the density of the tones provides mood. |

I like original 3 as it looks more natural (is that without posterisation?). Nonetheless the image has a lot of impact courtesy of those repetitive shapes and textures. I like how you not only provide the 3 distinct horizontal bands in the composition but 3 vertical bands of light/dark/light as well. The darker of those 3 vertical bands acts as a leading line to showcase the smaller chunks at the bottom. |

Great story portrayed here Jerry. Without knowing the history I get a strong sense of connection between the cemetery and the defunct steel works and the sepia puts some age on it. The lighting is fabulous as it brings out a lot of detail in all four bands of the composition. I think the little bit of shadow in the foreground plays an important part to give scale and a solid base. |
