Good contrast and a wide range of tones. I like the diagonal composition. It is easy on the eye and the deep shadow of the front camel grabs my attention first up and leads me to the pyramids via the riders. A complete travel story image. |

Jerry, your notes proved invaluable as to the where and why as my first thoughts were of an archeological find. The fragments add a great deal to the story and add to the framing of the face. I would be inclined to tone down the lighter bones especially top right and also lighten the face quite a bit to make it pop against the dark background. As it is the main subject, 'playing it up' would likely add more impact. |

The smoke makes a strong leading line coming in from the left and adds drama. Could the smoke be brighter and whiter to give more contrast? The image certainly has plenty of impact and I particularly like the triangular formation of the four jets. |

Nice close up of the bird where the feather detail is wonderful creating much impact. The positioning of the bird is great as it allows a good view of the head and makes a fine animal portrait. The diagonal of the branch works well. I am happy with the density and the way the subject stands out so well against the background and dont think it needs lightening at all. My only concern is the blue in the eye, background and some parts of the feathers which arguably is pushing the boundaries for monochrome as the bird is predominantly black and white so the blue introduces a third tone. I would be interested on how others feel about that. |

A very symmetrical image where the composition draws me through the image from the bottom and there is plenty of depth. There are lots of subtle tones and the blacks are strong but I find I am looking for something more in the way of a focal point. |

The iphone has done a pretty good job balancing high light and shadow for an evenly lit capture that accentuates the shapes and textures. Nice angle to show front and side facades with nice straight verticals. The people foreground emphasize scale and adds liveliness. |
