The subject matter is cherry ripe for a mono conversion and you have done a good job with it. Plenty of texture in the stonework and the square grid of the windows provides a nice graphic quality. What did we ever do before perspective correction became available? It is such a great tool and necessary in this case. Nice range of tones, good contrast. I would like to see the sky brighter. The bit of building chopped off at left does not bother me and if you did'nt provide the original I'd be none the wiser. |

The thing I like most is the range of tones, lines and textures and the threatening sky. I would like to see brighter highlights. The composition is very much over to the left side and so I would like to see more space on the left. The path makes a strong leading line up the stairs but it also takes me out to the right and then the path ends abruptly arriving at nothing so to me that causes conflict and confusion. The inclusion of a person would change the dynamic and I think that is what this image is crying out for. |

I think it was a good idea to add the sky as it is fairly featureless in the original. The mono conversion places more emphasis on the symmetry of the opening and while it does result in loss of shadow detail I don't mind as those areas are not that interesting and make the original image too busy and it adds to the framing and accentuates the most important part. |

Fantastic image. Great composition and an abundance of tones. The sky is lively and dramatic and there are lovely textures in the grass and school house. The sparse tree with ominous cloud above it and the broken swing set create a spooky mood: a bit Stephen King ish. The subtle vignette assists with framing. |

I find the mono version more peaceful and moody than the colour and there is a great range of tones. The composition is delightful with the bright triangular patch of foreground leading right through the scene to the back of the lake. Clouds are a bonus. Many textures in the trees and ripples. There is a lot of digital noise in the trees on right in the colour version so the mono cleans that up. |
