Stuart, hi and thanks for the welcome. Your image has some deep blacks and clean whites and a bunch of greys which is the basis for a good mono and I like the graphic elements and that there is plenty of detail evident. I guess you have shot this looking up as the top appears to be falling back. I would like to see some more space both sides as I find the framing too tight. It would also be interesting to see double the amount of the diamond pattern. I feel that would provide a better balanced composition. |

Thanks Jerry for the welcome. Steel wool in a whisk; who would have thought? Result is spectacular with the overlap of lines and sparks bouncing off the ground. I get a better sense of the sparks bouncing in the colour version but the mono has eliminated all the distractions (with the exception of the bright area at the top which is probably unavoidable). A technique worth further exploration and exploitation. |

Hi Helen, This is a strong graphic image with a lot of impact and I find it quite sensual and erotic in an artistic way. I like the triangular composition and the contrast of the opposing direction of the curves. Mono keeps it simple and effective. |

Hi John & thanks for the welcome. Pano works. I think the whites in the sky are quite dominating and perhaps burned down top left and a bit on the right would not hurt. The whites behind the buildings are fine as they allow those buildings to stand out well. There is a nice balance with the differing building heights. I am curious as to what is out of frame on the right and wonder if a bit more of that could have been included so the bridge ended up being closer to an intersecting third as that may create a stronger lead in to the scene. It looks cold. |
