Robert, I lived seven years in Portland and another five in Ashland, so this landscape is familiar to me. This really can be desolate and isolated country, which you grow to love. This shot is quite moody to me, perhaps not as morose as you were feeling, though. The center section of blue mountains is the moody area for me, not the threatening sky. Very good shot. |

I love the main body of the picture, the concrete pier, bird, pilings, and so on. The reflection is great. The shoreline is distracting to me, but I am not familiar with the lens you are using. |

Gloria, this is a peaceful shot. Very nice. I am not the one to give advice on sharpening, etc. but I do see what you mean. That black and orange are the perfect submission colors for October! |

Cheryl, I think the colors are superb and the reflection incredible. Personally, I do not get the feeling of time passing but think it is a wonderful shot. |

I really like this shot. It seems restful or peaceful. But the main thing that amazes me is how the circular periphery of the shot (sky, sand, rocks at the bottom) are pretty monochromatic with the darker rocks in the center pulling in your attention. |

Haru, I really like how the light shifts on the fern and the ground cover. I do agree with the other comments, the trees, trunks, etc at the top of the image might be better cropped out. Great subject. |

Thank you both, Robert and Dan. Great comments, which I appreciate. I do see the folly of having this fellow looking too much to the left. I will look at the original picture, because I may have cropped the left side too closely in Lightroom.
I never thought of making him black and white, because I love the amber/brown color of his eyes, but the cropping and turning to black and white does add drama.
I have so much to learn. Thank you both again.
