Hi Denise I love the shapes and textures of this flower. I do think that leaving some lighter areas in the background does help add depth. Great image. |

A fantastic image Linda, I really like the conversion to BW as you concentrate on the shapes and textures. A suggestion for the future in these difficult lighting conditions is to take several exposures and merge them afterwards in Lightroom or Camera Raw. Although you did a great job from a single image. |

Hi Jan, a great BW conversion with a full range of tones. I love the textures of the stonework and there is a good story, leaving us wondering what he is looking at. My only suggestion for improvement is to tone down the highlights on his apron a bit more, as my eye is drawn down there rather than to his face. |

Hi Mary you did a great job given how dark the original was. In terms of the crop I would prefer to keep all your older granddaughter's hair in the frame. I do prefer the BW version but for my taste it is a bit too high key and the colour toning does give it a cold feel. Attached is my take, using NIK Silver Efex for the conversion and the Full Spectrum Inverse mode. Permajet Portrait White is a good paper for portraits, it is a light textured matt paper. |

Hi Connie, I love the colours in the image and I think making them a little more saturated and warming them up was a good move. I too prefer the original composition, more space adds to the mood and sense of isolation. |

Thanks Denise. I like your suggestion for the pears and when I next buy some I will certainly give that a go. |

Thanks Jan. I agree about the bright reflections on the bottle and have now removed them. I like the more saturated colours but that is just my personal preference. |
