I am sure that is true Lance but I can only comment on the digital image as presented. |

A point for consideration is that when shooting at f3.5 with my micro 4/3 sensor, this is equivalent to f7 on a full frame camera. So one of the limitations of my camera is that I will never get as shallow a depth of field as those who have a full frame camera. |

I can see why you wanted to photograph this wonderful display of orchids. The backlighting shows up the details in the petals. I find the foliage outside the window on the left a little distracting. You used a very narrow aperture, a wider aperture would have allowed you to throw this foliage more out of focus. |

There is a good diagonal composition but I think you could strengthen this by cropping in on the left such that the stem comes in from the bottom left corner. This would also remove the distracting bright area on the left of the image. Unfortunately none of the flower is in sharp focus. |

A lovely floral image. My only suggestion for improvement would be to tone down the highlights on the top petals a touch. |

A lovely flower and I like the close crop. The colour of the background complements the flower. I find the whole image quite dark and would probably lighten the centre of the flower so that it stands out more. |

The vibrant flower stands out well against the black background and the framing complements the flower. However the masking of the flower is rather ragged, especially around the stems on the right. The stems on the right are also something of a distraction for me. |

Hi Connie, I agree with the comments already provided. You don't say why you had such a high ISO, was that just a mistake? Given that the camera was on a tripod there was no need for a high ISO. Also a wider aperture would have provided a shallower depth of field and blurred the background more in camera. |

I like the contrasting textures of the grasses and the hillside and the diagonals of the hillside and fence. However I don't really get the impression of movement in the grass. I think I would prefer the horizon to be offset rather than in the middle of the image. |

An interesting hood ornament. Your processing has enhanced the textures and kept the aged feel. I find the heavy shadow distracting and wonder if you could lighten this a little. |

A lovely capture of this beautiful bird and you have done a good job of making the background less distracting. You might want to try blurring the background a bit more and desaturating it a little. |

I really like this, a great fun image and well executed. It is almost as though the flower has grown a beard. I agree with the comments on the frame. My only other suggestion for improvement would be to lighten up the darker petals on the left just a touch. |
