Thanks for your comments Tom. I had tried a version with a darker background but my personal preference is for the lighter one. |

I really like the abstract nature of the image and the shapes and textures in it. I would have liked to have seen the original colour version and do feel that the BW version is a little flat. I have made an adjustment using a curves layer in the attached to bring out the textures a bit more. |

A nice environmental portrait of the flowers. As Tom and Lance have said, cropping in from the right to remove the half flower improves the image. Something to consider when taking similar shots in the future would be to try and isolate a single flower from others close behind. |

A lovely image, my only suggestion for improvement would be to reduce the amount of "fog" at the bottom of the image, for me this is just a touch too bright. |

A nicely captured floral image. The centre of the flower is lovely and sharp. I agree with the others that a tighter crop works better and that the background is a little bland. For me the two buds are a bit of a distraction and I would probably remove them. |

Hi Fred, you have captured an interesting flower and it certainly does resemble a bat. It is a shame that your settings have resulted in such a shallow DoF. I like that you have darkened the background to remove any distractions. I agree with Bev that it would benefit from a thin stroke line to define the boundary of the image. |

The image provides a real splash of sunshine. The central composition works well and the tones in the texture complement the flower. I would prefer to see the flower without the insect as it isn't large enough to provide a point of interest. |

Thank you Connie. I mask in Photoshop, I generally use "Select Subject" and then work around tidying up the mask where needed. |

A lovely misty morning scene, I also prefer your second version, it has a lovely ethereal feel. I think you could crop a little more off the left and perhaps the bottom. Also maybe lighten the mist a little. |

You have captured a lovely sunrise and I really like the leading lines of the pylons. I prefer the sky colours in the original and as others have said the workers are a little lost in the shadows. I took the original into Camera Raw and increased the exposure on the foreground and lifted the shadows. In Photoshop I then took the colour from around the sun and painted over the sun at a low opacity, just to give the sun a little colour rather than being white. |

A great image, as Witta has suggested you just need to crop a bit off the top to remove the distractions. |

I think your addition of the borders enhanced the image. I agree with others that the background is a little bland and the canvas needs to be extended on the right to give the flowers more room. |

I think you achieved your aim of creating an Ansel Adams type landscape image with a good range of tones and interesting textures. For me I find the band at the top a little too dark. I do like the colours in the original image. |

Thank you for your comments Witta. I agree the string needs cloning out and I really should have done that. I hadn't really noticed the hand looking long but I agree that it does. I have reworked the image to remove the string and reduce the size of the hand. I did try tweaking the colour grading but in the end left it unchanged. |

Apologies Denise for not sizing the file correctly. I was in a rush to get the images sent in before I went on holiday! |
