24 Jul 22 Comment A very delicate flower which is obviously well looked after. I like the composition of the image and the way that the leaves cushion the flower head. The green of the leaves is very vibrant and I would be tempted just to tone these down a little. Jul 19th
24 Jul 22 Reply Hi Bev, I much prefer the toned down greens in this one and the focus now is all on the flower. Jul 17th
24 Jul 22 Comment Hello Lance, it is really good to see something a bit different. I like that you have used a long exposure to capture the movement in the water spray. Like the others I prefer some part of an image to be sharp, so that my eye has somewhere to rest. I would have taken a second shot at a shorter exposure and used that for the centre of the flower.
I can see why you want to keep the 16:9 aspect ratio to maintain the water spray on the right. However I would have preferred the flower to be facing into the image rather than out.

24 Jul 22 Comment Hello Fred, a beautiful magnolia well captured and an interesting treatment applied to the image. My eye is drawn to the bright area of sky in the bottom of the image and away from the flower. A square crop might work better to remove some of this area. As Lance and Bev have mentioned, I also find the leaves a little too dark and agree with Bev that the flower could do with lightening, to ensure that this is the brightest part of the image. Jul 17th
24 Jul 22 Comment Hi Bev, a very impactful and vibrant floral image. The colours in the background texture tone very well with the flower. As Fred has mentioned the mask on the flower needs some tidying up as there are quite a few ragged edges. For my taste I find the green a bit too vibrant and I would tone this down so that the attention remains on the flower. Jul 17th

77 Jul 22 Reply Hi Witta, many thanks for your comments, they are much appreciated. I have tried a plain black background and you are right that either one works, but I prefer a slight texture. Jul 19th

77 Jul 22 Comment The image is nice and sharp and well exposed. It is good that you took the image on an overcast day to avoid any harsh shadows. You have achieved a painterly feel with Topaz and enhanced the vibrant colours.
The large flower in the top of the image unfortunately is past its best and for me is a distraction. I think I would have concentrated on the lower 3 flowers.
The colours are very vibrant so I do not get a sense of peace, for me I think to achieve this would require more muted pastel tones.

77 Jul 22 Comment Hi Witta, I have enjoyed looking at your images on Flickr, some terrific stuff there.
This is a simple but effective image and you have been successful in achieving a grungy feel. I really like the colour tones in the image.
Like Michael I am not a fan of the text and as the dial on the gauge is on zero then that suggests the pressure is already down.

77 Jul 22 Comment A very ethereal image. I like that you have flipped and cropped the image and that the tree is positioned on the third. For me there is too much sky, I think you could go for a more letterbox crop or add a few birds to the sky. I find the overlapping tree in the distance on the right side of the image a little distracting. Jul 15th
77 Jul 22 Comment A really impactful image and well done you for being out in the early hours of the morning to capture the image. I do not mind the light pollution, as you say the yellow tones blend well with the church. I also don't mind the converging verticals but you might want to try a version with the perspective adjusted. I think the grass in the foreground is too bright and vibrant and draws the attention away from the lovely church, so I would tone this down.

77 Jul 22 Comment A simple still life well executed. I like the position of the bobbin on the third and the harmonious colours of the scissors and pin cushion. I like the addition of the pattern to the background and it fits the theme well. I do not feel that the texture on the background fits with the theme and perhaps a linen type texture would better suit the image.
I like that the scissors are open and angled but somehow feel they create an imbalance in the arrangement. I would prefer the top of the scissors to be lower than the bobbin to keep a more triangular arrangement, maybe a smaller pair of scissors would work better.
