This is a great shot in my opinion. I really like the position of the Butterfly in your capture. With the wings slanted a little opposite to the branch it really leads my eye to it. Its too bad you couldn't have gotten just I little bit more light on it's eyes but with insects you get what you can get in the time you have. I enjoyed the positioning of the Butterfly with the branch angling across the page. I think you really captured the essence of this picture with your focus leading the eye to the head of this Butterfly. Thanks for a really nice image. |

Bill, I hope I explained my goals in my reply to Bob. I'm not sure what a "mosaic nor a composite" is, but again all of my images have been and will be a single image shot at various settings using a one of four Macro lenses that I have trying to get that 1 to 1 image. When I started with this group it was for Macro images and I have tried to developed my talents. Please understand I have nothing against other forms but have enough to do trying to master one form of images. I am just trying to explain that I might not be too helpful with my critiques because I may not be familiar with their uses. Bill |

I'm kind of an old school guy. You will find that I do not try to manufacture images presented on this page. I do "tweak" my photos and do some resizing but I am not into "photo stacking" etc. I am not condemning these processes but when I joined this page it was for Macro images and my goal was to be a better Macro photographer. I hope I don't sound as if I think I am better but still have this desire to become a better Macro photographer. Thanks for you comments! I do used various Macro lenses for my images that are submitted. That being said I have to apologize by not being able to critique some photos very well. Bill |

What a great MACRO capture! I don't know where the premise that macro images have to be tack sharp through out the whole image. What I find while studying macro is the area of interest (usually eye)should thefocal point and should be the area for crystal clear focus. That theory has been distorted by expanding the scope by PSA. I like the image as you have presented it. The lens of the eye is great (I had to get close the computer screen to see the division lines in the eye because my seeing is not what it once was). I love the tiny hairs around fly and the way you have captured the feet clinging to the branch or leaf. If I take some time to observe your image I keep seeing more and more minute detail. I think you have hit this right on and this is a wonderful image instead of a quick snap shot! Nice work in my opinion. Sorry for the long comment. |
