Well Denise what a very fine work you have created. The point of focus seems to me to be perfect. I like the way the pedal behind it curves around and brings the eye into the middle of the flower. I think you have captured a winner showing this in black and white. The flowing lines in the image are very calming to me. Thanks for this great work. |

Well Lou this is a fine work. I might have named it "The Floating Lady". The focus is good and the image is crisp. Maybe another set up would have the light source to one side or another to catch the relief some more (Sorry not disagreeing Carol, just a different perspective). Nice image. |

You shot this in one of my favorite places. Some years ago I was stationed at the Presidio of San Francisco and spent some time there. What a great image! As mentioned, I too have been told that the eye is the spot of focus and you nailed it. The diagonal wooden branch and the foliage in the background really led the eye to the subject. As others have stated the focus and clarity are great. Nice job from me also! |

This image was shot against a black cloth. It happens that the screen on this site is also black creating some confusion. I use the black backdrop on a lot of my macros. The right side (looking at the image) has about an inch that leads into the photo. Maybe this will clarify the set up some. Thanks for the kind words! |

Nice photo. I think your capturing the leaf at an angle from the center to the lower left leads the eye into the image. Colors are great and it appears as if they are marching down the leaf. Nice sharpness and I think you captured the insects in formation kept the interest to the main group. For me this is a good photo. Thanks. |

This is an interesting perspective! By going to the side of the "Christmas Rose" you captured the beautiful color on the pedals going from the corrugated white/red to the pure red at the edges of the pedals. By showing the center of the Rose to a shallow depth adds some mystery to the image (what's at the base of the flower?). The yellow showing thru adds to the charm of the image. I would not worry about cropping the leaf, I would not have notice without your comment about it. The front part of the flower is the main emphasis of this macro which you graciously did a great job capturing. Nice image. |
