That's really an interesting outcome. I enjoy making orbs out of flower arrangements but they always come on circular rather than in this format. I have to practice a little longer and see if I can figure out your technique. Very colorful and eye appealing |

Good job on putting some life into this image. It's just too bad that the light disappeared from you so quickly. The shadows of the rolling hills would certainly have been accented with more sunlight. You did a great job on bringing out the features of this landscape to include enhancing the sunrise. |

Thank you. I took your recommendation early and actually had this printed on canvas and I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. The texture of the canvas seems to enhance the overall appearance of the bird. People have commented that the print on canvas really looks like an oil painting. |

You are probably right about the rattlesnakes guarding the hen house here and I see what you mean about the misplaced lock. It's too bad there wasn't a little more wood left in that doorway so that you could have cropped this down and made the door the subject. As it is, I might suggest enhancing the color overall to bring out the green in the cactus and maybe some of the graying of the wood. |

I really like the way you finished this one off. My wife and I vacationed in Michigan a few years ago and spent some time in Traverse City. Now I see that Frankfort, Michigan was just a few miles southwest and I missed the opportunity to see this beautiful lighthouse. I've never seen a square lighthouse before. Your capture was excellent. Your cropping was exactly on the mark as well. I also applaud you for changing the sky. Excellent image and very expertly finished. |

Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate this. I originally thought that putting in antique background on it would make the tulips stand out a bit more but I see now that it is more of a distraction than it's worth. I should've left it blank.
This is one of the great benefits of groups like this - - great commentary from all members helps us to improve our concepts of presentation. I often have a tendency to over saturate backgrounds and I need another set of eyes, or several sets of eyes, to help me realize that I could improve my images in different ways.
This is going to be a great group - - I can see it already. |

Hello Russell And welcome to the group. I love the structure of the coneflower as well and their color. But I do agree that this image would really stand out more if it was cropped both from the top and bottom. This would segregate the bloom and focus our attention on it. I would also suggest increasing the exposure slightly and the saturation to really enhance the flower. Thanks. |

Hi Maria and welcome to the group. You are starting off a great image of this bottle brush. I mentioned in the previous section that I spend winters in Arizona and the bottle brush is a very common blossom. I have never seen one in this configuration, however. Usually they are in a bush with several flowers throughout. I ditto the comments on your composition - - very well done in the angular fashion. This one's a keeper! Great work. |

Hello Julie and welcome. I think this is going to be a fun group with a great subject matter to work with. I really enjoyed seeing the way you treated this Lily. The soft flowing background and the illumination in the center of the blossom is very attractive. I do agree with Marti that there is a little bit of cleanup on the bottom of the flower and a few spots in the background. Otherwise this is extremely well done and the very pleasant image to look at. |

Hello Melanie and welcome. Looking forward to your expertise and opinions. I really love the way you have treated your original images and came up with the final product. I'm a big fan of tulips and I envy you for having seen them in European gardens. Your treatment of the subject is very expertly done. The convention would be to maintain and enhance the color of the tulips, but instead you have really turned the shapes into an art form. My eye tended to go to the tulip second from the left because of the bright spot on it. But that is a minor point for sure. My only other recommendation would be to crop a little more off the right to make it uniform with the left. Wonderful job! Have you picked out a spot to hang the framed version? |

Hello Diana and welcome to the group. Looking forward to working with you. I love the beauty of this pastel cactus and you captured it quite well. I spend the winters in Arizona and there is an Argentine cactus there that has blooms similar to this. The blooms on that one only last one day. The blossoms are huge in their is a little more foliage on them but they are similar. My only suggestion on this one would be to slightly enhance the saturation of color on both the petals and stamen, and sharpen the stamen just a bit to make them stand out more. This is a beautiful bloom and I like the way you have centered it in the frame. |

Hi Fran and welcome to the group. I really enjoyed the way you finished this image off. I'm glad to see someone else uses the NIK software still. With all the new products out there, I still think that this software has many uses. I think one of the positive things about your image is that you completely fill this frame with very dreamy, silky colors and it makes for a very complete image. There is just one minor, picky issue that I have with it and that has to do with the petal on the lower right of the Blossom. Unfortunately, this one is cut off and it just appears a bit odd when all of the others are completely included. I think you did an excellent job on this and I really enjoy looking at it. |
