Nancy: Did you enter an image at the City of Lenexa? If so, will you be attending the reception? |

Hi Nancy:
I didn't realize you were in DD&B either. Because I live east of Lone Jack, Mo, I don't make it over there as often as I used to; however, I am on the What's App and will occasionally go on a field trip, too. I will look for you, too. |

Thanks Nancy: I agree that those two stragglers at the top need to go. I have always appreciated your comments. Thank you. |

Hi Joan: Your image is appealing and draws me right in. This is a bar with bars in the shelving, the dishrack, and the window. Even the ceiling has a couple bars. At first when I looked at the original, my mind went where Carole's went. I thought it could be cropped and the image would be great; however, after studying your correction, I like it better. I doubt that the bar was curved, but I like the curve there in contrast to how straight the shelves are. It is colorful and interesting. My eyes go right to the shelves of liquor and wander around there, which is where a customer should be looking. Then my eyes go to the lights and stay there.
The lights are distracting to me, so I cropped them out and used the perspective tool several times to try and straighten the shelves. The subject now changes to the things on the bar. The image becomes a panorama. It's just a different perspective on the same image. I think I still like yours best. Maybe you can just tone down the lights so the eye isn't drawn to them.
Good job Joan. I left you a personal message under your critique of my image, but it should have been here. So, I copied and pasted what I said there.
Congratulations with being selected for the monthly slideshow. I love "The Way Home". It felt like going home to comfort after being out in a frosty landscape. Good job.
Joan, you may already know that this will be my last time participating with Group 12. I just have too much other stuff I need to do. You have given such wonderful critiques and images since joining this group. I'm really going to miss your honestly and friendly manner. I wish you much success with your photography future.

Hi Nancy: The color contrast in this image is wonderful. What's nicer than yellow on brown? I agree that you could darken down some of the yellow and brown on the right side. However, I think there is too much dark on the left brown side. In other words, there is too much contrast from side to side. I think if you even out the contrast, the window will stand out more. It is an interesting subject with the dark, hooded creature standing at the window. Can you say "Ghost?"
You fulfilled this assignment with both bars at the windows and the bars created by the yellow brick. This is an interesting picture, and I think with just a little more work, it will be a winner.
Nancy - I want you to know that this month will be my last one.
I have contemplated leaving for a while because of time constraints, but I love this Group 12 so much, it's hard to go. Thank you for all your participation and interesting images like this one. Good luck in obtaining all your photography dreams. |

Joan - I'm not sure what you were trying to do, but I don't care for the change you made. It takes the window, which is parallel to the side and makes it crooked. I do like the closer crop on the left-hand side and was going to suggest that to Nancy. |

Carole: Thanks for your positive comments regarding this image. After I sent it, I thought I should have spent much more time on processing. The original had much lighter sand, and I think I made it look kind of muddy and gray.
It fulfilled the assignment, and as you know, this will be my last submission. Thank you so much for all your work to make this a successful group. I have been involved with another group, and I never received any kind of information from the facilitator. In fact, he has been remiss in getting some of my images posted. This group has been so much more rewarding due to your efforts of keeping the critiques coming. I will miss everyone in this group. I hate to say "Good-Bye." |

Hi Joan: Congratulations with being selected for the monthly slideshow. I love "The Way Home". It felt like going home to comfort after being out in a frosty landscape. Good job.
I did not place any of the plants for this image. Therefore, you see some plants being covered and others in the open. I thought about getting rid of the debris but decided to leave it as an untouched image of a sandy beach. I especially like the crawdad claw at the bottom middle of the picture. Had I thought about it at the time, I would have moved them to the blank space under the first bar.

Hi Connie: I found your subject interesting, and it is something unfamiliar to me. Like Carole, I searched the internet for more information. I like the way you shot at a diagonal. It adds so much more interest than if you shot straight on. The blue is striking against the dark gray background. Good image for the subject of bars.
As you may have read in Carole's image, I am leaving this group just to spend more time on my own photography. I have enjoyed your critiques and feel like I'm leaving old friends. Continued success in your photography endeavors. |

Hi Carole: I like this interpretation of bars, and there are so many in this image. I love your use of the piano keys. On the left side about midway down, there is an unusually large piano key. I don't think that is accurate and should probably be changed. It was probably caused by putting the keys together and may only be resolved by reshooting. This time I think you were "thinking outstide the bar!"
As you know, I will be quitting this lovely group to find more time to actually work on my own photography projects. It's been a pleasure, and I look forward to seeing you at DD&B meetings. |

Hi Howard: Thanks for the comment on the boots. I didn't even notice them until you pointed them out. The feedback of this group has always been great, and I appreciate everything I have gained here. |
