Carole: I am currently a member of Summit Art and one of our members, Ramon Mcgee always points that out on our images. I think you know Ramon. He has been associated with several big deal magazines, has done photography for many years, and is certified by PPA as a judge. You could easily ask Ramon where this rule came from. |

Thanks Carole. Vignette has never really been defined for me. |

Thanks Connie. I definitely agree that the vignette is too dark. |

Ally: Nice job of panning and getting the rider, flag and horse's eye fairly sharp. Since these were all along the same plane, it was a perfect opportunity for a great shot. I love all the movement. An action shot does not need to be sharp throughout. In fact, I have a bull rider's shot that is all blurred. My camera group really liked that it was all a meta fore for the blur the rider sees during the ride. Great rodeo shot. |

Hi Barbara: I love your picture. I can imagine it as a fabric for a colorful July 4 dress. I really like the repeating patterns and agree that the white beads are needed to break up the pattern. Great thinking. |

Hi Connie: I can image your doily set-up as a lovely table arrangement. I like your choice of items, and the only change I'd do is to take some of the brightness off the pearls especially on the sides and back. Otherwise I like your red, white and blue. |

Hi Carole: What is more American than the red, white and blue. I never see our flag without my heart going into my throat. I can't say much more than the group has already spoken about your image. It's beautiful. There is one rule that was broken here. I think I mentioned it before with most of our group disagreeing with me. Technically, the flagpole should not come right out of the corner. Otherwise, it's perfect. |

Hi Joan: Patience pays off. You managed to capture what you wanted along with a car and man walking into your frame. You did a wonderful job converting this image from the original. The way you handled the blown out white worked well. I saw Barbara's crop, and frankly, either is very good, but I think I prefer yours as the space doesn't seem as confining to the subject. I like the texture of the cobblestone street. It helps to tranfer me to a foreign country. |

Hi Ally: I think the lighter carpeting might look better without so much vignett. I didn't realize it was so dark until I saw it here. |

Hi Richard: You visited our group 12 this month. I just wanted to say I wish I'd thought of the elements in your image. I struggled to do a non-traditional image for July. Your image is so well done with the perfect light, composition, angle, and delightful colors. I would also like to take the class to which you refer. Thanks for visiting. |

Hi Ricarda: This image looks like a successful attempt to photograph three different areas, front, middle and back. Nicely done. The fog brings a sense of sorrow to me like the loss of a lover, the end of a trip, or just dreading the end of a beautiful day. I'm sure everyone could give a different interpretation of your image. That's art! |

Hi Helen: The empire State Building stands tall among the other dark buildings showing off our country's colors. I also feel there is a lean in the building that is easily corrected. Nice image. Hope you enjoyed your plays. |

Hi Howard: The interesting thing about your shooting angle and the lack of a floor makes the juggler look like he's floating upward - quite a feat while juggling with a torch on his nose. I'm surprised you captured this at 1/100 second and 800 ISO. It's sharp throughout. Give him a floor to stand on, and this image is a great capture. |

Hi Bob. What more can I say, great image. I love the abstractness of it, and yet the subject is clearly seen. I also like the green hat, which added to the color balance. Love it. |

Hi: Peter: I like your image a lot. I would add some contrast and delete the lights, but overall, I think your editing was exceptional. The skies have more personality and are probably the reason the wheel is stopped. I don't agree with adding more water. My eyes first went to the Ferris Wheel and then the boats. What a surprise they were. I love images that make me think and find my balance. |
