Thanks Dean! That eye peaking out of feathers needed that crop. I do tend to crop in close. |

Thanks Tim! That was a great honor!! Of course the flamingo was trying to sleep and not moving. My kind of bird! |

Thanks Rita. Next time I will try a higher shutter speed. I'm stopped at 300 mm. On my crop sensor that gives me 450 mm. Since I'm truly not a bird photographer, I'm not inclined to get a longer lens. I just don't know why those birds don't stop in mid-flight to pose for us! |

Thanks Tim
I have the same problem in following birds in flight with a long lens. This one was just about to land on a branch. I think it's all luck. Thanks for cropping it. I do like the top crop, but I think the right side crop cuts in too much to the bird.
Thanks again

Thanks Dean, I do shoot birds on burst and it is a lot of photos to go through. I like Matt K because he doesn't teach in technical speak. I'll check out Simon d'Entremont. In other words, I can understand him. I don't think Fuji has a track mode, but I'll check it out. My limited lens range is a problem, but since I prefer other types of photography, I'm not buying another lens. What I'm taking away from this is to shoot at a higher shutter speed. Thanks again, I do appreciate your help. |

Thanks Dean! Yes, I was thinking about cropping the top a bit, but decided against it wanting to give the bird more space. But, I probably should have gone with my first instinct. I also thought someone would suggest that I take out the branches, but I'm not that good at taking out stuff. I need to practice more. But, again, I agree with you. Regarding the shutter speed, it seems to work for me. I don't know how or why. Maybe it's the camera. The gal at my camera store, who shoots Fuji will be having classes on the camera. I will attend the next one since I only shoot on manual and don't use most of the camera's capabilities. I've decided it's tough to be 80! And, what will happen when I turn 81 next month!! Let me know what you find if you pixel peep. I'm always willing to learn. I'll crop the image before I submit it anywhere else! |
