83 Mar 23 Comment Thank you, Debasish. This was one of the last images I took at this location, having found a lot of unsuccessful vantage points and angles before this one. Mar 28th
83 Mar 23 Reply Thanks, Lance. It was actually a very flat gray sky, and the sun was behind me and to the left so there was very little texture to pull out in the small patch that I have in this frame. I pushed it about as far as I was comfortable with to preserve the more realistic presentation, but I will try to work with it a bit more and push my comfort levels a a bit. Mar 28th
83 Mar 23 Reply Thank you, Adi. I did take a look at this with a little less sky and I can see that it works in some respects. The wall is actually yellow, so contrasts very well with the overcast gray sky in a color presentation. I'll keep working with it to find the right balance. Mar 28th
83 Mar 23 Comment Hi, Margaret. Compositionally, I think you have done some really good things here. Good tonal range. The architecture provides a nice framing for the vignette and you have placed the two gentlemen nicely within it. It is obvious that this is broad daylight (even though your subjects are in shadow) and that implies that there should very much be more happening at this time of day. All of the elements of the story are there. I applaud your ability to see the potential of this scene and your ability to capture it quickly on your phone without disturbing the interaction. "Having the guts" to take a picture of this type is something I am still working on. Mar 28th
83 Mar 23 Comment Hi, Lance. I like this image a lot. The fog and diffuse light lend a great atmosphere to the image. As composed, you have cut off the tree's branches and thus created leading lines to bring me to the root balls, which mimic sea stacks in other geographies. Not including the branches simplifies the image in a very considered way. The toning to me evokes the very early pre-sunrise pink light that you can see on the Florida coast. Very beautiful and yet haunting. Mar 28th
83 Mar 23 Comment Hi, Mark. Nicely done. Great tonal range and overall lower key image really puts you in the room with these musicians. Your shutter speed and/or timing was enough to freeze the action of the hands on the instruments. The intensity of the look on the guitar player's face makes for a very direct, almost intimidating, connection to the viewer and really makes this image great. Mar 28th
83 Mar 23 Comment Hi, Adi. Excellent capture of a moment seemingly filled with calm and anticipation. The sharp focus on Ema makes it all about her which seems to have been your intention, but does de-emphasize the connection between her and the horse which would have been a completely different story to tell. As presented, it is a beautiful study in concentration.

I am curious- did you bring up the shadows on her face? I recently had the opportunity to photograph a Hunter/Jumper competition in the bright sun and had difficulty in bringing out the details on the riders faces which were in deep shadows under the brim of their helmet on a bright sunny day while honoring the prevailing light and shadows. I am very impressed with your results.

83 Mar 23 Comment Hi, Mike. Nice capture. The subject appears to be standing in the shade on an otherwise sunny day so you were able to get some good detail and a natural expression. Your description of the image didn't say if you cropped in from a larger image or not, but it may be a little tight. I'm sure there is more detail in the stock of the rifle and on the subject himself that may be interesting to include. I do love the intimate study of a rugged face, though. It appears as a candid portrait, but I do wonder if the background may help tell the story by providing some context; appears to be be just trees and a field so probably not. Would love to hear more about the setting and your approach to capturing this image as I am working to be less timid in capturing this type of image. Mar 28th
83 Mar 23 Comment Hi, Debasish. I like this a lot. I am a fan of patterns and abstracts and this ticks both those boxes for me. You even managed to capture the reflections of the ripples on the concrete.

The sun appears to be a quite a low angle so the brightness under the bridge and the very open shadows seem appropriate. The image to me feels very slightly tilted (low on the right) but the perspective seems well controlled. I agree with Lance about being a bit more centered and purposeful with your crop to fine tune the presentation, but this is overall very well done.
