A border on pictures is a difficult decision for me. My photography teacher-mentor for so many years would automatically disqualify a picture if a border was used. He despises borders and says they ruin the quality of a picture so that's my dilemma to I guess being brainwashed!!! I agree that sometimes a photo needs a thin border to enhance the image. |

Without blemishes comes from the spot healing brush tool in Photoshop. The water lily had several very small blemishes and I removed them with that healing brush. SO easy to use!! |

Alane...First, I hope you are feeling much better from your surgery!! I like the fly and down here in Texas, the larger fly is called a horsefly. I agree that the picture could be a little sharper. I noticed your ISO is only 125 which could have been pushed up to at least 400 for a faster capture. The contrast of the fly against the white flowers is such a natural outdoor setting. Good capture! |

Pierre...I use the spot healing brush tool in Photoshop for everything! I find it to be a lifesaver when removing something small and use it all the time. Those little surprise photo ops that pop up can be a challenge. I think you did a nice job of capturing the white butterfly. The spot healing brush can also remove unwanted stems, etc. in a photo. |

Murphy...This is a very nice photo of Sagebrush Violets. There is considerable detail to each flower with the yellow contrast to the lavender. You did a nice job of converting this photo and the violets stand out well with contrast to a darkened background. Wonder if they could survive the inferno heat in Texas!! Nice job!! |

Charlie...This is the beginning of a great still life photo and I really prefer the original!! I like what looks like natural light on the right side of the vase and the contrast of the backdrop and what the vase is sitting on. Making my edits is easier than trying to explain it. I lowered the stem on the berries, slightly burned the right side of the vase and very lightly dodged the berries so their color stands out as that is the focal point of the photo. |
