30 Jul 23 Reply Thanks for responding. Different ways at looking at a scene and different visions in editing are what make us and our images unique. Jul 8th

I do these composite images in ON1 software. I find it easier to use for multiple images than other programs I have. In adding additional bird images to the base layer (bird on right) I make sure my masking brush is set to 100% feather and low opacity, around 5-10 when I mask around the edges of the subject, in this the puffin. I go over the area more than once as I build up the mask. As I move inward on the bird, I increase opacity. For a background like this image has, I find the process works well.

30 Jul 23 Reply Thanks for your comments. Tripod was not usable on the moving boat, but I would not use one on a image like this in any case. Shutter speed and boat movement not an issue as shutter 1/3200 and up and camera has built in 5 stop stabilization. The issues were the small size of the subject, distance to the puffin, and images shot through fog. Jul 8th
30 Jul 23 Comment This is really a nice image. The old rows of pilings in the foreground pointing to the distant city skyline leads our eyes to the subject. My only comments concern cropping. I would crop in from the left to remove the partial building and crop in from the right to remove the partial pilings. They are distracting. See my suggested crop. Again, nice capture. Jul 6th
30 Jul 23 Comment You captured this winding double yellow line road very well. I like the way the road leads me from the lower left toward the upper right and then disappears. To me the road is the subject and thus the sky and its brightness is competing as are some of the hills behind. As an alternative, I suggest cropping as my photo shows. I did a couple of other edits, but the cropping is my suggestion to make an even better photography. Jul 6th
30 Jul 23 Comment Good sharpness in the braided rope, but more detail would be nice to see in the silky areas, especially the bright silky areas. You might try a version of this image adding more contrast just to those areas and make the image also just a B&W as previously suggested. What was the purpose of the colored areas? What were you trying to show? Jul 6th
30 Jul 23 Comment I like the results you created; I am not familiar with the process you use or why, but I like it. Unfortunately, I cannot tell where the right edge of the image is because of the black in the image and the black background of the site. If the right edge is near the flowers, I do not mind the partial stem on the left. If the edge is further to the right, I think there would be too much negative space and I would agree with Dorinda's comments about showing more of the stem. Jul 6th
30 Jul 23 Comment Nice flash shot. Good pose and expression from subject. I too would have liked to see all the fingers. Jul 6th
30 Jul 23 Comment You captured the barn in nice afternoon contrasting light which goes well with the yellow and green.. Nice job of removing fencing, cables and power lines in the image. I do feel the crop is too tight on the barn as it removes the nice "S" curve of the yellow vegetation leading to it. Also, saturated could be toned down for my taste even though you are giving this a painting effect which I feel should have a smoother effect rather than crunchy look the front of the building and vegetation now have. Attached is my alternative for crop. Jul 6th

30 Jul 23 Reply Thanks for your comments. The crop I chose was my vision of the composite scene where I wanted more wave action above the birds for a better feeling of their environment. Birds were highlighted with a modified vignette. The soft detail of the small birds is all I could get out of the shots that day with my 800mm lens, distance to subject and very foggy conditions. The bird's soft detail fit the foggy day for me. Attached are one original bird photo of the composite and a photo of the fog for reference. Jul 6th
