In my humble opinion, this is what HDR bracketing was intended for, and not the garish, over-contrasty, over saturated "art" that it became known for. I have encountered people who hated HDR because they thought that was all it was, where I, on the other hand, saw a super zone system for landscape photos. As for how many frames to include, I don't think 7 is too many, it just gives the possibility of that much more range to midtones.
Nice photo. |

Sadly, unless you live in a really remote area, you have to travel further and further all the time, even in the West, to avoid light pollution. Where we live, after moving in about 16 years ago, my new neighbor remarked: "You can see the Milky Way!!" Since then, everyone has yard lights and solar lights all around their houses that glow brightly all night, and even the glow from town 8 miles away makes it more difficult to see the wonder that is our universe. |

I am always intrigued by photos of machinery, and I would not have passed up this opportunity either. My personal preference is for less saturation, but I realize that others consider the vibrance a plus. Otherwise, I like it.

Thank you, Wanda. I got that same sense, and thus this image, which I thought was rather iconic.

Thanks for your comment, Deborah. On the other side of the door was a table with a man sitting there. I photoshopped him out to leave just the remnant of the window. I'm not sure why, but I liked seeing the corner and stove in more context, and so I left just enough to make it clear that it was a doorway. |
