85 Oct 25 Reply Thanks, Patrick. I'll work on that. That green spot keeps bothering me, too.

I love the Mavic 4 Pro. I just hope the DJI drones don't get banned from flight in the US!

85 Oct 25 Comment I agree with Patrick that there is a lot of potential here for detail shots. The other originals show how you can get up close and personal in a way that can't be done in any other way. The drone is perfect for such shote! Oct 19th
85 Oct 25 Reply It is what Photoshop calls the gradient that fades from nothing to max and then back to nothing again (instead of the linear gradient that goes from nothing to max gradient).

I wish Lightroom would do this gradient with its masks, but the only way to do it in Lightroom is to place a very wide and narrow radial gradient across the entire image.

85 Oct 25 Reply No problem that you don't agree. It's all opinion anyway. I understand what you mean about not wanting the brighter luminosity in the sky. I think it is more the color than the luminosity change that I objected to. And I like the blue color at the top of the sky. Try using a reflected gradient along the top of the hills and along the horizon to bring back some of the original color. I think the yellow color of the hills is better against the blue, since they are opposite colors on the color wheel. I see you brought out some of the detail in the shadow behind that rock, and that was good, but beware of losing the contrast there. Oct 11th
85 Oct 25 Comment Hi Richard. I like the subject of this image, although I think the composition could have been improved a little. It's a little thing, but I'm not fond of the bottom of the flag almost touching the ship. It seems if you had moved to the right a bit, you would have gotten more of the skyline in the image instead of the industry seen in the original (and you wouldn't have needed to crop it so tight on the left).

But the biggest issue I have with this image is that the processing seems too heavy-handed. The sky has way too much detail, although I like that you were able to bring out the smoke in the air. The original needs more contrast, but I'd say you took it too far. I think a softer approach would have made a more pleasing photo, including with the building and the foreground.

85 Oct 25 Comment Hi Patrick. Although I like the changes in the water in the lower half of the image, I'm not sure I like the color adjustments in the top. The hills take on a somewhat pinkish color, and you lost some of that hazy morning look on the horizon. The softer shadows and colors in the hills tone down the "pop" you are getting with the original colors in that area. And the blue background reduces the depth in the photo. It is a beautiful photo, but I think you could do better. I feel much more emotion in the top half of the original!

Rather than global edits, target in on the different areas. The blue sky is pretty, but as it approaches the horizon, don't cover up the haze.

Also, it looks like you might have leveled up the image a little, but it still seems to be leaning to the right.

85 Oct 25 Reply Thanks, Richard. I questioned the green reflection myself, and at one point took it out by desaturating it. But I like the way it shimmers in the water, and I felt the whole image didn't have enough color variety. I would be interested in hearing what others think about it.

Yes, the speed of writing the 100 mp images is a bit of an issue when I want to quickly take another shot. Because of that, I have stopped using the SD card. This drone has a 512 mb hard drive, and it writes to that drive a little faster, but it still takes about 5 or more seconds to write 3 images when I am exposure bracketing. I doubt I will ever fill up that drive in one outing. I still keep an SD card in the drone, though. I'm using my old cards that I bought several years ago for my Mavic 2 Pro, so I've not kept up with what are the fastest SD cards today.

85 Oct 25 Comment I like the little ponds/lakes, and I think you did a good job with the composition. Greens are always hard to work with, but I would try saturating the picture more, and perhaps a little more contrast. I recommend applying a vignette and darkening down the outer edges a bit, then lighten the center. The palm trees in the left of center are nicely lit, and I would brighten the rest of the lakes and the building along the right-center to match in luminosity.

A picturesque scene, this image has a lot of potential!

85 Oct 25 Comment I'm not sure what your intention for this scene was, but as an image to document the moment, this does its job. But as a work of fine art, it probably wouldn't fare well in photography competitions. The lighting is a bit dull, and the colors are a bit flat.

The composition isn't bad, and your crop is good, but I would crop in even tighter. The yellow equipment and its reflection are quite good, but the yellow barrier floats lead the eye right out of the picture, and the yellow pile on the left is a distraction. You might try desaturating or removing them all. (it raises the question of when does a leading line lead you further into the picture, or out of the picture. I think its bright color here pulls the eye down towards the brightest part, which is closer to the edge. Others might differ.)

I like the rocks leading away from the dock, but I wish they didn't block the edge of the reflection. If you had moved the drone a tiny bit more to the right, you might have gotten the entire reflection. That might be hard to see on a small screen on the remote controller... sometimes I have that problem.

And finally, saturate your colors more, and apply a vignette around the picture, ignoring the building.

Here is a quick a dirty edit I did. I noticed while zoomed in, it needs some noise removal (that might just be in the compressed copy).

85 Oct 25 Comment Absolutely beautiful image, Pete! Lovely sky! There's not much I can say to make this a better image, except perhaps cropping off a little on the left side? That butte pulls a lot of attention, and the sky there is not as exciting as the rest of the sky. I'm ok with the image as is, but take a look to see what you think if you crop to the right side of that break in the skyline on the butte on the left. I feel it might frame in Factory Butte a little better instead of being a subject on its own. Oct 5th
