I've not used Affinity so I can't help there. But Luminar Neo should do a good job. Definitely try it! |

Very true. But with what is happening to the economy and potentially to retirement funds and Social Security, I'm afraid it is just not in the cards right now. Nor is traveling :( |

Yes, when I used to turn it upside down, I had to hang on tight. It tried to wiggle away! :) |

I love ocean shots! But I agree with Pete, the image needs a stronger center of interest, and the color seems a bit odd. I think the dodging and burning did not really help the image. I think better lighting on the scene would have made it pop. |

Interesting colors and interesting story. Since I would have trouble identifying what I am looking at (with the pools) without your description, the picture seems to be half abstract on the left and half reality on the right. I think you should go with one or the other. If you want a total abstract, you could darken or crop some of the red hills, or otherwise process them so they are not identified. If you wanted to go with a realistic picture, then including the entire pool area might have helped. You could have done this by taking several shots in a panorama and stitching them together (easily done in Lightroom). With this method, you do not need to go higher to catch the entire scene in one shot.

Great image! I love the turtle on the tank (all we have in our area is the name of the city or locale on the tank :(
Yes, the sky is problematic on the finished image. You could crop a little more at the top to get closer to the cloud layer. But you have lost some of the color I see in Original 2. I don't know why that would have so much noise. How did you process it, and what software product did you use to do it? HDR itself should not cause this much noise. |

A good documentary shot, but I agree with Pete, the truck is too close to the top edge. |

Yes, the grimace on his face is priceless! :)
I wanted to do a trip to shoot the red sailboats in Greenland (I shot it in Antarctica in 2020, but not with a drone). The guides told me they had to catch drones while sailing since the boat moves (making Return to Home impossible), and one had to be very careful flying through the rigging. So I practiced and practiced catching the drone.
Someone told me that if you catch and immediately turn the drone upside down, it shuts down, but it doesn't work on my drone (it did when I first bought it, but I guess something changed or broke in the electronics, and it will no longer do so. I've researched and searched, and tried different settings, but could not uncover the solution). |

I still almost always catch my drone, unless there is a specific reason to do otherwise. The bottom of this drone looks almost like it has handles, so I wonder if they would make it easier to catch.
I first learned to fly by being allowed to fly a guide's drone in Utah. It was a great help and I have one of my best pictures ever shooting with that drone. I quickly became addicted and had to go out and buy one of my own. Now I am lusting after the soon-to-be-available DJI Mavic 4 Pro (although I'd still be a little nervous about putting that much money into a DJI) |

I don't mind the composition, but I think the lighting was not particularly good for this shot. I like the reflection of the sky in the water, but I wish it were closer to the middle of the photo instead of so close to the top edge. It also looks like the red tree, although an interesting subject, is a little too over-processed for my tastes. |

Love this image, Pete! At first glance (before reading your description), I thought it was in or near the Benonite Hills in Utah, and that the color must have been manipulated. But after reading your description, I see it is in Arizona. Very interesting photo! Great composition too! I've been through this area before I was a (serious) photographer, but would love to visit it again! |
