Thanks, Mike. I will take your advice to see if I can increase the wow factor. It isn't one of my favorite images, and anything to increase the wow factor will help! |

Thanks, Alex. I agree with you that a lower view probably would work better. I have several other views that are taken closer to the lighthouse, and one even has the lighthouse light lit, but it was taken a little later and does not have the sun and reflection in the image. |

Thanks, Pete. I understand what you mean about the island being in the lower left. with a diagonal line leading up to the sun and reflection. But in this case, if I had moved anymore to the right, the sun's reflection would have been over the land and therefore not reflecting (I actually have several other versions, but this angle showed the sun and reflection the best).
I will try to lighten the green a bit to see how it looks. Thanks for the tip! |

Not being familiar with the subject, I find it a rather interesting abstract. For any abstract image, the maker should be aware of how he/she is leading the viewer's eye around the image, and what every part of the image contributes to the whole. As the eye stops at each point of interest, does it arouse an emotion or a different feeling? How does it contribute to the overall feeling of the photo, and does it express what the artist intended? And like any abstract, the viewer often interprets the image independently of what the maker intended. |

Effective as a documentary image showing a structure in the desert. I don't do journalistic photography, and I cannot speak to this image as a creative effort or as fine art, but for documenting the structure... the subject takes up less than a third of the image. While it is good to show the environment of the structure, perhaps it shouldn't take up 2/3rds of the image. |

I like the colors and contrast you have added to this image. The sky looks a little dark for the image, and as mentioned by Alex should perhaps be lighter closer to the horizon. I don't have much of a problem with the placement of the green balloon, although a little more space on that side would be good, but I think it is cropped too close to the structures in the lower right. I think leaving 3 balloons in the picture was a good choice. |

A situation where you could never go back and reshoot even if you wanted to! Too bad. But you could get a before and after shot!
The exposure of the barn isn't too bright, IMO, but I would certainly add a vignette to the image to draw the eye to the main subject. Also... there's that cyan sky again. Add a little magenta to give it a more natural look.
I'm fine with the junk in the image... it is part of the story, so I wouldn't recommend cleaning any of it up. I like the picture overall, kind of a fun shot. |

What a fun project! I like the original version better. I don't think the "fog" and "orton effect" added much, and it obscured much of what was happening in the photo (it is hard enough as is to identify what is going on). |

This is a really cool building and a really cool location! I actually like the composition of the full image better, although I think it would be better if you cropped some off the right and put the pagoda in the center. Although I like the clouds, you could choose to crop the sky a little closer to the structure too, although cutting them off like you did in your main image should not be done.
I also like the color version better because the reddish roof is more like the Asian structures actually appear.
As mentioned by Richard, the chimney looks crooked... in fact, the entire building could use a little perspective correction.
I'd love to visit this location! If you go back there, try to catch the sky with a nice sunset... it would look good with the colors of the roof. And as Pete mentioned, it would be wonderful with fall colors too!
