Thanks Janos. As I mentioned to Don, I don't use in-camera HDR.
I did fly over the water, but could not get a composition that I liked better. Mostly I just lost the reflection of the sky and the pond turned a dark color.
But the little lake is nearby, so I'm sure I will practice flying there more often, and practice getting some good compositions. Perhaps this might be a good place to try to get images for all 4 seasons. |

I used the 3-image bracketing feature in the camera, so I think it was 1 stop per image, but I would have to go back and check.
I don't usually use in-camera HDR, on any of my cameras. I shoot in raw, and the HDR setting usually produces jpegs (and I think this is true for the drone camera too). It is also why I don't use the panorama feature in the drone camera. |

Oh, my, thanks for pointing out that light spot (or rather those light spots, for there are several of them). I should have seen them right away! They are actually light on light poles, and it was my carelessness that let them get by!
Thanks for the comment! |

I like how you edited the image adding more contrast. The original looks much flatter. However, I agree about the darkened shadows, especially in the center of the trees. Lifting the shadows there might bring back the flatness, I would try a bit of dodging to bring back some detail of the trees.
And rather than trying to rotate the image to straighten the horizon, you might want to try stretching that side of the image to raise the horizon on the left side. I'm a little confused about why the original has the horizon straight and streaks in the clouds level, but your final image distorted those. Is the "original" where you worked on straightening it? (I see there is not as much space above the house in that version). |

Happy New Year, Janos.
I like the idea of capturing this circular city, which is captured so well with a drone. It feels to me a little like the image is titled a bit to the right, I would try to straighten it a little. However, that will crop some of your edges, which are needing a bit wider view as is. Rather than trying to fly the drone higher to get the entire view, try capturing several panels and stitch them together. Lightroom does a pretty good job with the stitching, especially if you hold the drone in one place and don't move it too much. |

Lovely time of day, and yes, the noise could certainly use more work. Instead of Topaz Sharpen AI try using Topaz DeNoise AI, it has more options for noise removal.
But I think the biggest problem with this image is it leaves the viewer wondering what the subject is, and the eye bounces around the image unnecessarily without settling on what you want them to look at, which is likely the church and the refinery. The road creates a bit of a leading line toward the center of the picture, but mostly it just attracts your attention because it is so well-lit and becomes a competing subject.
Your crop of the sky is good, but cropping so much on the right put the refinery in a rather awkward position in the photo. I agree with Pete about the upper left quarter of the picture not doing much. I think a portrait orientation with the church in the foreground (and perhaps getting closer to make it a larger part of the image) and the refinery directly behind it might have made a more compelling picture. |

Pete, I love this image, and have wanted to get out and get a similar image. But here in Wisconsin the snow does not seem to stick to the trees for very long or the wind blows it off in short order, so it almost has to be taken the day it is snowing.
I have seen so many pictures taken directly overhead looking straight down at the trees, and many are beautiful pictures, but I love the arched composition you captured in this image. I agree about the cool blue color, it makes it look more wintery and cold! |

Lovely abstract that makes one smile when they see the face! I'm also curious if you saw this while flying or if you were simply capturing the riverbed and saw the face once you were back home. |
