I liked the juxtaposition of the gear and the role. The fact he seemed to me to be the antithesis of the "expected look" of an officer is what drew me to him. |

Yes, and his total demeanor as well. He was absolutely jovial and friendly. I chatted for several minutes with him and a couple of fellow officers for an interesting perspective of this area known as the Byward Market, a major attraction in our fair city and would happy to take any of you on a photo tour of the area should you decide to visit. |

Oddly enough some of his 'enforcement' officers were less obviously armed. A major tourist section of the city that is now heavily patrolled for drug dealers, panhandlers and a large homeless community. |

Yes, I had actually asked permission to shoot, he chose the pose. |

Agreed, the way the centre of the building in the back and the centre line on the road line up is an absolute draw through the scene. I too like the higher contrast edit.
You have also proven the well worn line "The best camera is the one you have with you" or perhaps at least the one you can use in a given situation.
Good capture of everyday life. |

The framing and B&W make this very powerful. The look of absolute concentration provides a great view of how art is actually hard work. While this framing was great, I think your skilled post really made this image pop. Unfortunately it makes me realize I need to learn Photoshop ;-)
Really powerful image, thanks for sharing. |

It's all about the face and you nailed it. I do find the additional crops, including Bruce's idea of a "little off the top". I find that if my eye wanders the slats nearest the building poinnt back to the child. Hopefully trying new boots. Great capture

A neat image. I like the way the heads seem to form and S drawing you through the scene.
Would a light vignette, say -8 or 9, help to even focus further on the man and the heads? |

The vest does seem to say swat rather than community relations
