23 Feb 24 Reply We rented a car and had planned out a route with places to stay. It was a great trip even though the weather was less than ideal. I bought a drone for the trip which didn't get a lot of flight time due to rain and high winds. And I was traveling with a non-photographer (my wife) which made it difficult to spend a lot of time getting the best shots. But over all a great trip and wouldn't mind returning. Feb 19th
23 Feb 24 Comment Raptor day, this guy might make a nice meal for a raptor. I've seen ibis in our neighborhood with a wiggling snake in its beak.

You photo is excellent, everything is crystal clear with good detail and the tongue shows no blur at 1/640 sec. One thing that is slightly distracting is the whiteish coloration on the scales to the right.

Do you know what kind of snake?

23 Feb 24 Comment Jill, thanks for the suggestion of a darker sky I'm going to give it a try. The glaciers were amazing, we were able to get closer to others but this one was unique with the waterfalls created by the runoff and the overall view Feb 7th
23 Feb 24 Reply I like it!

What do you think of the bird in the back? Do you like the emphasis on the front one and have back slightly out of focus? Or better to have both in focus?

23 Feb 24 Comment The juxtaposition of the birds and the reflected images in the sand gives interest to the shot. Two other thoughts regarding the shot: rule of odds (odds are more interesting 1 bird or 3) and maybe crop to a vertical format? With a vertical crop the viewer might feel closer to the birds. 23 Feb 24 Comment Very nice shot Julia. The bird is perfectly in focus and has excellent detail. I do like the way you were able to blur the background. The one thing I would have done differently is the crop- a tighter crop cutting off some of the sky and knocking off a bit from either left or right to bring the bird off center. Feb 3rd

85 Feb 24 Reply Hey Lou, thanks for your comments. Yes there have been several suggestions regarding brightness and saturation so I reworked the photo using the LAB color space instead of RGB. Here's the result. Feb 25th
85 Feb 24 Reply Thanks Drema, that sounds like a great idea- I'll give it a try. Feb 8th
85 Feb 24 Reply You're right- you have the best view in the original shot. Feb 7th
85 Feb 24 Comment Hi Don, You did a good job with the composition, a sweeping curved beach leading the eye into the frame and a bit of the water in left corner. You have also captured some nice tones in the water. A different time of day with softer light or an overcast sky may improve the photo. Feb 6th
85 Feb 24 Comment Alex, what a beautiful scene. The clouds are exceptional and nice leading line with the walkway. I like the inclusion of two people. I wonder how it would look if the scene was shot so the the track more even on left and right. Feb 6th
85 Feb 24 Reply Alex, see above explainer. Last autumn the tree colors were excellent and I hesitate to make saturation in fear it would not look natural. I agree upper left needs work. Thanks. Feb 6th
85 Feb 24 Reply Don, I thought the photo might be a an interesting illusion and a challenge to the viewer. The clouds are reflected by the water surface. Feb 6th
85 Feb 24 Reply Train lover - that would be me! Feb 3rd
85 Feb 24 Reply I like this one a lot, all you need is the train and some more image on the bottom. It looks like they have a locomotive on display bottom left. Feb 3rd
85 Feb 24 Comment Hi Lou, good shot to remember the day. It is amazing that after just a few hundred years there is green plant life clinging to the solidified lava. Feb 3rd
85 Feb 24 Comment Hey Pete this is a lovely shot and interesting to think about regarding the shadows. For me it's the illuminated foreground peaks and corresponding converging shadows that make the shot. I agree with Drema, the sky is not an important aspect of the image and could be cropped somewhat. Feb 3rd
85 Feb 24 Comment Drema, this shot illustrates the apparent great skill you have with post processing images. The final result is outstanding but I do wonder how it would look if the sky was somewhat darker making the scene a little more dramatic. Overall a great image. Feb 3rd
85 Feb 24 Comment This is actually on my lists of places to visit when I get back north this spring! A friend of mine was there last year and he also recommended the Altoona train works. I wonder how it would've worked out if you made a pano shot from lower AGL or different view point. The video is great, looks like 3 locos in the front and two pushers. Feb 3rd
