Julia, thank you so much for the id! I'm planning on sending Scott a framed print and he will be happy to know the name. I took another shot (actually several for focus stacking) of this plant looking down at the flower, it looks quite a bit different. I'll display in the next few month here on our group's digital dialog page. |

The complete settings were 92mm focal length, ISO 400, f/5.6, and 1/2000 sec. The smaller the aperture the greater the depth of field so f/16 will increase the focus on that wing (a good reference is https://www.dofmaster.com/doftable.html and it may not be necessary to stop all the way to f/16). But the fact is that the butterfly has motion so we need a fairly fast shutter otherwise we could have motion blur (not focus blur). I'm not familiar with the settings on your camera especial how ISO will effect noise, but if the ISO is increased the aperture can be reduced. And perhaps the 2000 sec shutter may be reduced allowing for a further f stop increase as well. These variables are fully controllable only when the camera is set to shoot on manual. I try to shoot manual whenever possible. |

Interesting shot, composition and exposure are both good and really good close up. A problem is the focus and loss of detail. What camera was used and was the image cropped a lot? |

Well done, adding texture and softening the image worked out well. I probably would have used a clone brush to remove that little bit of leaf coming up from the bottom, and maybe the bud too. |

Thank you. I had to make a wooden frame for the black felt backdrop (I had no volunteers to hold it for a half hour), without that the image would have suffered! |

The butterfly body and near wing is well focused as is the flower. The far wing is not quite as sharp: I wonder if the camera had been set on a smaller aperture like f/16 instead of f/5.6, would that have brought in the focus on that wing?
In any case very nice, well done! |

Hello Robert, your image caught my eye as I was wandering through some of the groups. I like the image and think you did a great job with post. There is one suggestion that I can offer: try using the perspective tool to make the line above the tram horizontal and the line between the two door vertical. |
