Thanks, Barbara, I'm glad you and the others enjoy the photo. It was only one of a few that I could work with so I'm glad that I was able to make this one work. |

I don't know enough about portraits to offer too much but I do like the photo a lot. The model has a very self assured expression that makes it easy to look at her. I'm wondering if she has blue eyes? Her left eye almost looks like blue is showing through.
I like the orientation as is but flipping it certainly does not compromise it.
I know a lot about film noir - she might make a good femme fatale if she had to!
Very nice portrait. |

My immediate reaction to the photo was amazement at the texture of the subject - before I even saw your title. I think you captured exactly what you were looking for and I can't offer any suggestions for improvement - it's one of the best photos I've ever seen in terms of showing the texture of an animal.

Hi Kirsti,
I love what you did here. I like the original - I think the 3 "subjects" works better than 2 - it's more dynamic.
I also love the blue finish - it works to convey the cold you were looking to accomplish.
Ed beat me to the blown out subjects - I think if you can tone them down a bit it should improve the photo.
Great experimentation!

Hi Doug,
I know it's me but I'm struggling with understanding the angle that I'm viewing the subject from. I can't get oriented. However, I really like this image as an abstract. I agree with Kirst as far as the dark profiles facing each other - I got a similar reaction. The exposure is spot on and I like the texture in the photo. It makes for a very good black and white photograph - nice capture on your part! |

Hi Ed,
I like your image as is. Sometimes you have to break the rules and I think having that dark area to the left does not compromise the image at all. It's amazing with some photo opportunities, how timing is everything. One half second sooner or later and perhaps you have no photo at all. I think her facial expression shows the moment - she's certainly aware of the wave and it is having an impact, but she does not seem overwhelmed by it.
Really nice that you could have your daughter as your subject!

Thank you, Ed. I will fool around with the edits based on everyone's comments. Conditions were not what I was hoping for, especially when you look at photos of the area of clear days. |

Thanks, Kirsti!
There was a fine balance I was trying to thread between brightening up the photo a bit but not wanting to mis-convey what I was actually seeing at the time - which did not include much light! |
