I like Kirsti's revision, especially for the woman, but I feel the wall starts to look more like a sky instead. Maybe just toning back the wall a bit could be an option?
Since the woman is moving toward the left of the frame, I think leaving it uncropped is a better option.
It's also an interesting contrast between the technological age and the reality of life for a Moroccan woman.

Hi Kirsti,
I love the finished look - somewhat more abstract than the original. I appreciate all you did to get to the finished version -I'm familiar with Topaz but not the texture feature -I'll have to check into that.
This is a really creative shot - I hope you can find the right surface to replace the texture for your upcoming competition - good luck!

That is an amazing capture, Ed. What was your aperture and shutter speed? - amazing that there is no blurring anywhere.
And I love how the one woman's head and eyes lead you to the performer.
i agree that the lightening up of the photo helped.

It's a very dramatic portrait, especially with the subject staring directly into the camera. His confidence is conveyed very well.
You could also try burning out the lighter area in the dodge/burn tool in PS.

I think the crop puts the one girl too close to the edge, but I understand why it appeals to you. I should have asked the girls to move (lol).
