47 Mar 25 Comment I like the tonal range, especially the whites in the buildings.
Maybe a little more opening of the shadows on the face of the cliff?
I like the arcing coastline, it provides some drama to the photo.
Sometimes it's hard to know whether to straighten an image or not; it may look awkward or it may work out -I guess you can play around with that part.
I too was imediately drawn to the dark shapes in the foreground and agree they could be lightened up or removed.
It's a very beautiful scene.

47 Mar 25 Comment The depth of field is very effective with the water and the boat just slighlty out of focus as to not compete with the life preserver. I thought more water color than pencil drawing, especially in the ships and the water. The lines of the boardwalk/dock work perfectly to lead the eye into the image, and I really like the pattern on the wood just above the life preserver.
Lastly, I don't think the sky can be overlooked -it has an ominous feel but not enough to overpower.
Great shot.

47 Mar 25 Comment Hi Kirsti,
I certainly love the creativity and originality of your photo - that's a great eye on your part to see a photo in that discarded device.
I really like the complimentary oval shape of the device itself, the cracks in the glass, and your outline. There is a great contrast between those harmonies and the tension the cracked glass represents.
I think you did a great job of redefining the background also. I can't suggest anything within the photo that could improve it.
Very interesting photo!

47 Mar 25 Comment Hi Jeff,
Kirsti beat me to the Ansel Adams comparison. This is a spectacular shot rivaling any professional ones I have seen of the same location. I was there back in 2016 and struggled to get the lighting and location combination as you have successfully done here. There's nothing I can add that could possibly help to improve it.

47 Mar 25 Comment Hi Kirsti,
Yes, I agree with the blur effect and had tried to do that but wasn't successful in isolating the area. I will try again. I hadn't thought about cloning the pole, I'll also give that a try.
Thanks for the helpful suggestions!
