I like this photo a lot. I cannot add as much as I'd like to because I use a laptop and can't get the image large enough to see the fine details. Are you using the guidelines for image sizing? Your photo from last month did not have this issue.
But I do like the tones, contrast and the models expression. I look forward to more of your portraits. |

I was also working on cropping - thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks, Kirsti. This is one of those images that did not match what my eye saw. I'll have to concentrate more when I'm composing the image instead of trying to frankenstein it in post processing. Fortunately, this pond is near my house and it's supposed to snow on Tuesday, so maybe I'll give it another go! |

Thanks for the feedback, Ed. I did some simple dodge/burn in PS and came up with this image. It's still a little busy but I think it's an improvement and I do feel there's a little depth now conveyed. I'll play around with it some more. I appreciate the suggestions.

The detail and sharpness in the foreground is great - the bird really stands out and it is a good contrast between the stillness of the bird and the rough sea. The bird seems unfazed by it all. Maybe a little more light on the birds head or darker behind his head? |

I meant to comment about how well the text came through from the original - that was a nice edit. |

I love your finished product compared to the original. The vignetting is very effective, as is the contrast. It's a very interesting photo that makes me wonder- who's hand print? When did they do it? They had a good sense of composition! Nice work with the editing. |

This is a nice candid shot and I like the edits you made from the original. The addition of the book adds to the story.
My only suggestion would be to darken the lower left side where the book page is highlighted still.
I always get paranoid when I shoot candids, even with a zoom lens. I'll have to try to practice being discreet. Nice study of concentration in your photo. |

I really like the contast of light and dark, and of the texture of the snow with the fencepost, and also the contrast of imagery with the beautiful snow vs the ominous barbed wire. A lot of good things going on.
Did you consider removing the arcing wire as well? I fooled around with it in PS and removed it - it creates a different feel - not sure if better or not, just different. It seems to open the scene more to the viewer.
Another really nice photo! |
