10 Jun 22 Comment Rich - you certainly had challenges taking this photo and I think you got a good shot despite those challenges. I don't like to fool around with other's photos but I took the liberty to simply crop it and straighten it a little more - let me know what you think. Jun 14th
10 Jun 22 Comment This is a really tremendous photo - it's amazing what detail you all get with your flower photos. I enlarged this on my screen to see some of the detail and was amazed at how much it looked to me that I was viewing a watercolor print. I most definitely like the submitted photo over the original. 10 Jun 22 Comment First, I'm really sorry to hear about your camera lens! But you recovered nicely with a beautiful composition - it's just amazing what the cameras in phones are capable of these days. The exposure is really good also. My only suggestion would be to either lighten up the shadows a bit in the lower left and upper right, or maybe just vignette the entire frame? Just a suggestion but a really beautiful photo. I hope you got other shots on your trip before you broke your lens. Jun 14th
10 Jun 22 Comment I like this photo a lot - the exposure of the petals is excellent and the blue background is a stunningly beautiful shade of blue. I do like the leaf at the bottom, I think it grounds the photo nicely. The only part of the photo that might be a distraction, and I'm sure this is just me as I can be easily distracted! - is the small highlight on the far left side of the lower left petal. Other than that it's just a beautiful blend of colors and hues that makes a very pleasing photograph. Jun 14th
10 Jun 22 Comment Would you mind if I shared this photo with my astronomy club? Jun 10th
10 Jun 22 Comment Mark - I know we're supposed to provide critical feedback for improvement where we can but I can't find anything to suggest a way to improve this photo. I take a lot of nighttime / Milky Way landscapes and I think this picture is just excellent. I may set it as my screen saver for a while. Just a great, artistic photo. Jun 10th

47 Jun 22 Comment I think the original photo with the signs and the non-sepia version would be my favorite combination. The walls look too stark without the sign and the posts, although I agree that the bully sign doesn't add much to the photo. Many possibilities. You didn't mention your shutter speed but would it be safe to assume you used a fast shutter speed intentionally to freeze the action? It would be neat to see a comparison of a similar shot with the flipped person blurred from the flip. The photo works in many different versions. Jun 14th
47 Jun 22 Reply I tried editing the photo but did not come up with anything I liked better than what was already submitted. And my original reaction to the original was that I really liked it a lot, including the sky. Which brings me back to my original starting point. I have some photos that I really like but discarded because I thought the sky was not right. So I will submit one of those next month and look forward to the feedback from the group. Jun 14th
47 Jun 22 Reply I like this version a lot, mainly how the foreground takes you into the photo. And maybe the bright light helps keep one guessing as to just what is at the end of the tunnel, literally and metaphysically! Looks like you had a good shoot that day. Jun 14th
47 Jun 22 Comment Ed, what I'm learning since I joined this group is that I have a lot to learn! Thanks for taking the time to make those edits and share how you did them with me. I will add them to my list of possibilities in post processing my photos. I do like how the top of the image is toned down now. I may still add some more foreground because I wanted to convey the length of the alley to show that the dog was not near me at all, and that the alley way was spooky partly because of how long it was. But overall you improved the image immensely - thanks. Jun 13th
47 Jun 22 Comment It's funny because Krista took the words from me - I too think this is the best of the Iceland pictures I've seen since I joined (although I really liked the black church last month also). It's interesting that you got better results with sharpening and not contrast - I'll have to keep that in mind.

Help me out here - I'm always uncertain what kind of a sky a black and white photo should have? My initial reaction was that there is too much gray, but I'm not experienced enough to know what options are available with monochrome skies.

47 Jun 22 Comment It's amazing this photo wasn't taken in the 1950's! I really like what you did in this photo. There's a symmetry and a messiness that blend. I like the name of the company - I agree, what is roto-molding??) and it intrigued me that they list the address but not city, state or phone number! I too would like to see more of the bike - it definitely adds to the story. Jun 12th
47 Jun 22 Comment I like the B&W version. I can feel the coldness of the place. I can also feel a little claustrophobia! Is it possible to bring out more of the ice in the foreground? I think if you toned down the light at the end of the tunnel you might improve the photo even more.

Did you shoot a lot of photos that day? It seems like the kind of place you could get lost in the photography.

47 Jun 22 Comment Here's the original photo. I kind of liked the leading lines of the cobblestones but did crop it down. I'll try cropping it more or maybe I'll darken those lines and the shadows a bit. I think the light in the trees is better in the original so I'll tone down my final to match that. Thanks for the input. Jun 12th
