Thanks, Mark - I'm enjoying the group and discussions very much. I'm going to work on both versions of the photo - I think I'll be pleased with whatever direction I end up in due to all of the good suggestions.

Yes - it does shoot raw. I'm trying to be selective with my settings as my photos come out at about 5 to 6 mb per photo! |

Thanks Diana, the Panasonic Lumix camera I use has a Leica lens and it does produce very sharp images. |

I like this one better than the original. The sky in the original was too blue, if that makes sense. And this one seems to be much more detailed. |

I love the image overall. Would changing the background to black achieve what you're trying to do? |

This is beautiful image overall. I often struggle with photographing flowers because I don't know where to focus. It appears the left petal is in sharp focus, but not the right pedal. Is that difficulty due to the shallowness of the depth field? Or is the right petal in focus but just a different texture?
I really like the background also. |

I really like the photo, and the title is perfect. I do like Donna's edit on the brightness of the leaf, I think it improved the photo.
I look forward to your spring into summer photos! |

This is a very unique final product. I'd love to see the original. It looks like it could be a photo from the 50's. The colors are striking. I'm not familiar with the editing techniques you used so I can't provide much feedback, but clearly they created a very dramatic photo. |

This is a very interesting abstract. I'm wondering if you took other photos using different shutter speeds. It looks like it could be a watercolor in some places. It's interesting how there's little transition between the 2 colors. I hope this sludge isn't an everyday occurrence!
I like it as an abstract. |

You're very lucky to have that view near your house! I think it's a magnificent shot but I agree that it looks a little soft. I'm new to this all but have seen comments about Sharpen AI. I took a trial offer and photos similar to this improved dramatically - just a thought. Look forward to seeing more of your neighborhood! |

Thanks, Donna. I guess initial instincts are sometimes the best. I knew the final image I submitted was weak and was looking for suggestions to improve it, and you provided them. The woman is my wife and I asked her to stand still while I took the first photo - I have other photos of the day where her orange top stood out.
The angle of the first photo is better as it shows the side of the building, adding more depth. And leaving the rubble in tells a little more of a story as to the surroundings of the chapel.
Thanks for the insight and suggestions. |

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll darken that light square in the lower right, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with the finished image thanks to everyone's constructive input. |

I gave it one more go. I just want to see if I'm on the right track, as much for future photos I submit as for this one.

Thank you, Albert. I agree it is the people that drove me to take the picture, although the setting is unique. I will concentrate more on eliminating any distractions. I appreciated everyone's input. |

Thank you, Kirsti. When I cropped it last night I felt I might be losing something in the lines of the wall so your suggestion is excellent. I'm not familiar with the keystone correction you refer to but I'll look into that. I'll try the other suggestion too. So many possibilities - it's very rewarding to be a part of this group - thank you. |

I don't have any technical comments, but what I can say is that the photo struck me very powerfully because it simultaneously shows the beauty and majesty of the mountains, but at the same time there is something foreboding about the image - and that is creating a lot of tension, for lack of a better word. Beautiful, majestic and foreboding all in one photo. |

I don't have a lot of experience with portraits but I can say this is a remarkable photo. I love the expression on his face - he knows something and he's not telling! I also like the detail of his hand. The only minor comment I can offer is I was drawn to the shadow inside his palm. |

I really like this picture a lot, especially from what you had as the original. I think going from 5 to 3 was a good decision. The shadow of the pumps are great and the fact that the first pump from the left has a longer nozzle negates any chance of monotony in the pumps. And the wires holding them up is like a photographic gift.
There's a really interesting optical illusion in this photo - I've been able recreate it in my head a few times. If I stare long enough at the silos, the shape of the curves change from convex to concave. It doesn't affect the photo in any way, but it's something I'll look for in similar subject matter. Great shot all the way around.

Thanks Jeff, I was playing around with the cropping after I uploaded image and realized I needed to get rid of the top portion. I'll re-croup and also try to improve the contrast. Thanks very much for your input. |

My description should have referred to "diagonal line" and not "horizontal line". |
