Hi Cindy, that's an interesting point (trying to remove the reflection under/behind it), but I wasn't thinking that. Just bringing up the bottom a bit, and leaving what's left. With water, the eye knows there should be a reflection, I was just thinking to de-emphasize it a bit.
If you like it though, you should stick with your vision for the image and keep it! My suggestion was just an idea that I'd pursue if it were mine :)
Thanks for the response!

Hi Morrie
Bravo man, this is great, especially after hearing it wasn't AI generated, which was the first thing that jumped to my mind too.
I love the super clean lines and overall composition of this piece. My eye just keeps wandering around and is eventually pulled back to the center, where it all starts again. The yellow and blue complementary colors work exquisitely too... it's a really nice image to look at :)
I've got no suggestions for ya' - thanks for sharing!

Hi David
This IS cool, I've never seen a fern like that either. I like how well the contrast in this image makes the subject pop too, and you've done a good job dealing with the otherwise busy background.
The only suggestion I have is to crop in from the right a bit, matching the distance from the closest point of the red leave to the edge to the closest point of the green leave to the edge. It feels more nicely framed that way and supports your great subject.
Thanks

Hi Craig
A fun twist on an otherwise not overly exciting image, sorry, I couldn't help myself ;)
Also, thanks for posting the original, I always find it interesting to see the before and after.
David's right, it is a kick how this rendition just keeps swinging your eye in circles, I also like the slightly over-saturated look, it would be too much for a literal presentation of a leaf, but I think accentuates the abstract swirls nicely.
Thanks

Hi Cindy
Nice clean shot of an egret. While you may not be happy w/the higher ISO, I do like your choice of aperture for this shot (you could consider dropping shutter speed in the future to bring your ISO down too), everything that's supposed to be in focus is, and you've still got a nice soft depth of field on the background. Speaking of which, I like Craig's edit to minimize that distracting element of the background without getting rid of it altogether, still honoring its surroundings.
I would crop it up a bit from the bottom. You don't have enough reflection there to show the whole bird, so for me, it just pulls my eye away from the subject a bit, but not for a positive reason.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Craig, I appreciate it. That's awesome you used to live there! Being in Boise, it's opposite of Manhattan in more ways than it's like it, but I still found a real appeal to the place. Kind of hard to put it in words, but if the opportunity presents itself again, I'd very much enjoy spending some more time there.
I'm fairly certain you could spend the rest of your days wandering around that city making pictures and still never even scratch the surface!
Thanks
Josh

Evening David - thank you for the feedback, you're very kind! It didn't occur to me to straighten the buildings, but I'll have to keep that in mind next time I'm processing an architectural image. I have done it in the past, I guess it was just subtle enough in this image that it didn't register.
Thanks
