Hi Alan
I didn't notice the tilt to the right w/out Craig pointing it out… it's pretty subtle to my eye. I do agree about the various earthy tones and patterns though, that vase is almost as prominent as the roses themselves. That said, your snazzy new backdrop works well with the flowers themselves.
Compositionally, you might play with leaving a little more room to breathe at the top, above the roses.
Thanks for sharing

Hi David
I really like the punchiness of the processing you've done on this - it gives it incredible detail, and in addition to the triangles continually leading my eye around the image, those details keep making me want to stop and check them out. The darkness you've preserved in the two big cracks works well too - adds a bit of a sense of mystery. I've got nothing to offer-up for suggestions on this image either, really nice work!
Thanks

Hi Craig
Cool shot! I like your choice of the deeper depth of field you get w/f/13 - it really provides a great level of detail for the bird as a whole. It's fortunate he's taking off into the sun, and you're spot on about the sharpness, that nice glowing eye is as clear as can be. The symmetry is awesome too. Nothing's jumping out at me for a suggestion.
Thanks
Josh

Thanks Alan, the focus fall off does work well here. I'm never shy about admitting a little luck and I had it here. That f/1.2 often leaves such a sharp edge between what's in focus and what is not, and those nice soft tapering leaves mask it well! |
