I have found it hard to get the long shutter speed effect on running water just right and I think you have nailed it here. It is a great composition with interesting textures of the fresh rocks vs the moss covered rocks. The white water trail gives an engaging symmetrical figure across the center of the picture.
The original is really good too with interesting highlights of light in a few locations. I expect there are a number of ways that you could have treated the original and they would all have had merit.

Paul, I agree with Ed, you do find the best buildings and then capture them in a way that asks the questions about why is it here in this lonely location and why was it abandoned. Even the feel of a relentless wind from the left into the frame is explicit. Technically excellent as usual. I also agree with Ed about the LH side of the picture being a little darker than the rest although I like the gate - It raises another question about why is a gate needed when you're miles form anywhere and anyone? |

Hi Jay,
This is an interesting picture, thank you for sharing your thought processes regarding creating the final image. I have not seen this kind of analysis before and find it very interesting.

This is well titled - the scene is very calming. The post enhancements are subtle yet make a world of difference to the original. Very tasteful. |

What a great composition! The center of interest of the clouds is swirling above the house which is also located in space by the symmetrical pattern of the canola plants. Everything is pointing to the house, even the sun is rising behind it. Something must be about to happen in the house, but what?!
The panorama A/R adds a lot also. |

Great picture, George. Pictures with paths in have a mysterious quality, especially here being coupled with the landscape of the hills and valleys that must have lots of history to them.
iPhones take excellent pictures! |
