93 May 24 Reply Thank you Darcy. I agree the sky is over processed. Normally I would avoid such a heavy hand with the adjustments. This is no longer a true reporting of what I saw that day (which is what I usually aim for) and is more of a dramatization for effect. In this case I liked the dramatic effect and decided to leave it as is. Artifice as art? Either way, the skies in Sicily were spectacular! May 15th
93 May 24 Reply Thank you Paul. I had originally adjusted the sky using the sky adjustment in Lightroom. I then adjusted the whole picture using the Cinematic CN01 option, assuming this would cancel the sky adjustment. As it turned out the sky adjustment was affected to an extent by the subsequent cinematic option but was not canceled leaving this interesting hybrid effect. May 15th
93 May 24 Comment I like the symmetry of this shot with the 3 petals and the 3 leaves (i guess that is what they are called!) in between the petals. These appear to be in sharper focus than the petals making the emphasis of the composition the yellow part of the flower and these 3 interstitial leaves. The symmetry of the whole flower is interestingly arranged in the frame.

The greens make a good background for the purple and the yellow pops. I am amazed you were able to pull all of this out of the original.

93 May 24 Comment Very creative lighting that complements the symmetry of the plant. The B&W treatment adds to the appeal also. Lots of subtle shade of grey and black outside of the brightly lit portion. It looks like a lot of technical skill went into making this shot. May 15th
93 May 24 Comment A very dramatic and foreboding landscape. The glacier looks as though it passes behind the mountain on the left and we are looking at it from what used to be a tributary to the glacier - is this why it is called 'Receding Glacier'?
The colors in the ice are fascinating. I recall walking on a glacier in the Alps (a long time ago!) and being astounded at the colors deep in the ice.

Would it benefit from a crop into a panorama aspect ratio with less foreground and more glacier?

93 May 24 Comment Interesting shape to this mountain. It is very angular. The reflection in the perfectly clear water balances the composition well and the multicolored stones in the water add a nice texture. Lots of very subtle colors and shades of light and dark. I would like to see how it looks with a little more headroom above the mountain. It feels a little cramped as it is. May 15th
93 May 24 Comment Wonderful composition that really captures the interest. The geography alone makes it compelling. The subtle coloration and the starburst - along with its perfect reflection! - add even more interest. Amazing. May 15th
