A clever composition with the diagonal split between the Ocean and the hillside for a backdrop. The lighthouse looks so isolated (despite the bright sunshine) without any visible access roads which adds to the scene. I like the inclusion of the person. It lends scale and somehow helps with the sense of isolation.
Did you get any shots with a larger aperture? It would be interesting the see how they compare. Also does anyone know if there is a tripod not affected by wind? It is a real problem. |

Great image, Paul. You do old buildings so well. A very evocative image with the tension between the lost community and industry and the industrial wasteland that commercial enterprises appear to be free to litter the country with. There is a whole novel in this picture. The black and white treatment works well. |

It must have been exciting to have been that close to hot lava. As you say the contrast with the lush jungle is striking. Time to put New Zealand on the bucket list! |

The waterfall makes an interestingly sinuous curve down. This makes for a wonderful composition. Your crop and post processing enhance the picture perfectly leaving a pleasing overall aspect and interesting detail.
It would be good if the oil and water of the pure and brackish waters were more evident - is there a way to have brought that detail out more? |

Dawn this is an amazing picture both in terms of the composition and the technical skill that rendered it. The depth of colors, the textures of the water and the overall composition make it stand out.
Interesting to read about the blending of the 3 exposures to capture the water movement the way you wanted it. I will definitely be trying this in future.
Congratulations - this is one of the best images I have seen. |

The peaks rising from the mist makes a great composition. The mottled clouds in the sky creates an interesting texture that contrasts in form to the angular rocks themselves. The trees clinging to apparently nothing add some tension. I really like this image. |
