Nice shot, Ed. I actually like that there are birds on the ground and some in the air. It raises the question of why they chose to fly or not fly? What goes through a gooses mind at times like these? Including why are almost all the ones on the ground facing left?
I agree the 1/500 speed was perfect for capturing the motion. |

Great shot. Cows are such curious creatures, they probably wanted to know what you were up to and if you had anything for them.
I agree it could have been opened up a bit. Although it could be that in a large print it is just right. |

Mark, I am astonished at how you were able to create the detailed image from the highly exposed original. This is a lesson in how much information exists in regions of photographs that I had assumed till now are burned out. The resulting image is very dramatic. It seems you were close to the action, too, so thank you for your dedication in bringing us this image. BTW I think your competition judge was a bit harsh in scoring it low.
I had a similar opportunity in Hawaii last year at a spot where waves are regularly reflected off a cliff face into waves heading to shore. Crazy people were surfing in both directions and being ejected into the air by the collision of the waves. |

This is a nice reflection shot. Although it is hard to judge the scale, it looks as though these are big trees and a big stretch of river which makes the reflection all the more impressive. The B&W treatment gives it a particular mood.
I like this shot in color, too. Thank for posting the original. It is very green but that is what it looked like at the time and it is interesting to see the true colors. |

Dawn,
This is a stunning picture. The foreground appears almost to be underwater and the rocky structure on the right hand skyline is like an ancient ruin. Combined with the highly skillful capture of the the Milky Way this makes a picture for the wall, or the cover of a coffee table book. |

Jeffrey, this captures the sense of Castle Rock at the top of the hill. It is a clever capture with the lower rocks leading the way to the more intricate structures. The colors are very natural looking and appear to credibly reflect the colors one would see visiting this site. |
