I like the symmetry of this picture - the 2 rows of trees being perfectly aligned in the frame. I agree the character lends proportion and also they look to be enjoying being there under the canopy.

Congratulations on your ascent (and descent) of Mt Washington. That's a feat at any age.
The picture is very dramatic and cinematic in its impact (dark brooding clouds, splash of light from above lighting the house and path to somewhere magical). So much more impactful than the original. |

This looks like an excellent quality capture for a macro image. Good DoF and no distortion.
The composition is excellent - the mushroom is the star of the picture however there is a lot of interest in the leaves in the foreground. In this respect I prefer the original over the cropped picture. |

This is a nice composition. The sky is so uniform in its mottled blue.
Soft shadows and the wave like texture of the sand give it an otherworldly look.
I am guessing you were up very early that day! |

A whole story in a single capture. Very moving and on point for Veterans Day. I like that some detail on the middle ground stones can be discerned - they lend support to Unknown. |

Mark, I appreciate you taking the time to provide this constructive feedback. It is very helpful. I learn a lot from understanding more about how others see my pictures and you go further by explaining how the changes can be created. (By 'blocked shadows' I assume you mean shadows with no detail in them?)
I went back to the original and redid the post processing using a different crop and simple masks (the straight line of one of them is visible at the shore line) in an attempt to address your expressed concerns. If you have the time I would be interested in your opinion.
