10 Dec 22 Comment I can appreciate the frustration with flower portraits...I love to take these types of photos, but am always looking for a unique angle or perspective to look different than other photographer's versions (especially in a classroom setting). I like that you captured the curved leaf, which is the unique part of this portrait. Dec 19th
10 Dec 22 Comment I like your editing work, especially moving the flowers to overlap, making the bees in opposing positions, and removing the color. I hadn't thought of moving subjects closer so as to have the tight-shot I envision. I'll have to give that a try. Dec 19th
10 Dec 22 Reply Thanks for the feedback! I guess I'm in the minority with the personal preference of selective focusing with flowers. I'll try increasing f-stops in the future, but I'm always concerned about lens quality after a certain point along with my shakiness. I really feel like I'm stable, but reviewing my photos afterwards proves otherwise. Dec 19th
10 Dec 22 Comment I agree that the double-exposure creates interesting shapes with the branches. If Donna's saturation suggestion doesn't work, then you may want to try dodge/burn certain areas to make the shadows deeper and contrast the highlights...this can sometimes work to add "texture" overall.

10 Dec 22 Comment I agree with Donna's suggestions. You may want to consider desaturating the blue shirts since they are not the focus but the color makes them stand out. You may also want to crop out the partial arm on the left side of the photo.

10 Dec 22 Comment Very cool image! It's one that you can continue to look at and find interesting angles (...I can imagine it in an office or other places to inspire ideas). I have wanted to learn more about tabletop photography, but always find myself venturing outside for photographs. Since I live in Illinois, perhaps this winter I'll make time to figure out lighting and setup for creative tabletop photography. I appreciate your description of your setup as a starting point.
