Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
10 Jun 22 Comment As others have said, this is a great catch. It's one of those photos that communicates to the audience in a way that allows us to bring our own emotions to the photo...our experiences are likely to shape our interpretation of what the subject is feeling. Jun 18th
10 Jun 22 Reply The straightening works well for this photo. The color of the water contrasted by the yellow/glow of the lights are very pretty, especially with some of the lights reflecting off the water. Jun 18th
10 Jun 22 Reply I know this isn't related to your photo, but your story reminded me of my experience. I was photographing my niece's lacrosse tournament, and kept my second Canon lens in my backpack (often at my feet, when not on my back). I was very protective of my backpack, where it was never out of sight and well within reach. My brother teased me that people were going to think that I had drugs in my bag since I was so protective. Obviously, he isn't a photographer. Camera gear is expensive (and maybe my drug of choice)! --Carrie Jun 18th
10 Jun 22 Reply Thank you for the suggestion! I have worked with textures, but I think I struggle a bit. I like textures, yet my brain is stuck on what I captured rather than what it might be. I will have to experiment more. --Carrie Jun 18th

10 Jun 22 Reply Beautiful photo! Of the first two, I like the first one over the Lensbaby, but the third option works even better as a combination of the two approaches. The first one is beautiful, but the third one is beautiful and artistic (which is my favorite combination). The little bit of softness without the glow keeps all the amazing details, but helps the eye focus on the key part of the flower. Jun 14th
10 Jun 22 Comment I like the sky color and hint of the moon. I also like how it's almost abstract with the tree branches, but the moon gives it all context. Jun 14th
10 Jun 22 Reply I have a few diffusers, but I've never actually used them when shooting outside because I don't use a tripod. I have a smaller camera now, which I can hold and shoot with one hand, so I might see if I can use a small diffuser for the up-close shots. Thanks for the suggestion! --Carrie Jun 14th
10 Jun 22 Reply You're right about the highlight. I didn't catch it at first, but I would remove it now that I've seen it. I prefer the highlight focus be on the petals. Thanks for the suggestion. --Carrie Jun 14th
10 Jun 22 Comment I love the colors in this photo. They are mesmerizing...I keep going back to look at the details. The foliage as framing works well also. My only suggestion might be to tweak the sky, if not replacing it...the blue of the sky is very similar to the blue of the mountains and water. It might help to create more contrast by adjusting the sky color or adding more clouds. --Carrie Jun 13th
10 Jun 22 Comment Donna, I'm sorry to contact you this way, but I emailed my image to you several times, with follow-up emails requesting confirmation of a response. I'm assuming my image never made it to you, but I don't know why since other images and emails have made it to you in the past. I emailed your Hotmail account (copying the address from a previous email, while also responding to an email you had previously sent directly to me). Please advise. --Carrie Jun 13th
