I am glad you notice, you just made me aware of some else credit. This was a section of small window in a winery picture which I cut a section and multiply it, not thinking about it.
So by making me aware of it, I am able to improve. This is what participating in these type of groups is all about it. Make us, better photographers. So we avoid mistakes.
Thanks Ian. |

Thanks for accepting my apologies.
Putting this matter to rest, let me say in retrospect choice of word used in this matter were not very good.
I wish the description of the original submission, would have stated that 3 actual album cover were created by Mike.
As I saw it originally the creation was just putting 3 albums them together as tryptic image only.
For my part, I should have inquired more about the submission, before commenting.
Prior month, 2 images were also submitted of statues. So this month an statue and a copy of a sign was submitted.
Hey, nothing wrong. But when I joined the PSA study groups was to share experiences and learn from each other.
My statement of "using somebody else work" it is commonly mentioned in camera club competitions, when images as such show up. The judges do not like them and usually score low. That is a fact.
My intent at all time was to share that Info; just in case these members were not aware of it. Never was I trying to call any one a thief or any else.

As I have mentioned before. I feel very bad and extremely disappointed that you want to leave. I sincerely hope you reconsider and forget my ignorance. |

I though that they were pictures of albums.
I see now that it was a TOTSL CREATION AND A GOOD ONE.
Please understand my ignorance as to the source of the images.

Mike Please I do not want you to resign.
Mike in no mean I am calling you a liar, please please understand what I am trying to say.
If my opinion did conveyed that, please accept my apologies.
That was not the intent at all.
Am I wrong in my interpretation? Like I said if the intent was an assigned subject and each image was a copy of albums is OK. Unless I am missing the point that you recreate those images in the album by yourself?
I am sure we can express our opinions and not label anyone. |

Thanks to all for you comments. I do , I do appreciate them. as I love photography very much.
I had mentioned this in another group, the reason I "try" to express myself artistically with photography is because, I want to be an artist. I tried other forms and they proved to be disastrous. Singing? roaches came out with earmuffs. Painting? Well they did hang my pictures, as they could not find me.
Playing music, The neighbors called the cops. So cameras and computers are helping me.

You are good in the digital darkroom!!!!!! You have created a perfect image with excellent details that we most of us try to present in our submission. But Unless we know geology or the facts about Death Valley rock movement, this is not creative.
I think we had this discussion in the old group.
Is it creative because we change it to a different state?
In creative, do we have to "make it/show it" that obvious it is created? I do both, So I am open.
That is a topic to discuss and get opinions.

Creative????? OH yeah!!!!!
Lots of creative work from a simple image. It does show a great ability to manipulate a photograph. Like Mark Said, a bit 'straightening' would remove a negative remark.
Also here I bring a comment/topic that I have mentioned in other submissions comments this month. A picture of a statue in competitions is usually referred as "some one else credit", regardless of the treatment. Taking pictures in a museum, or graffiti walls. Here I am a lost as I do not know the regulations or guidelines for submissions other than "Be creative" Jpg and a 1400.
A friend of mine what he does is wait for some one passing in front of it. Then the picture is not the statute or the graffiti wall. Opinions? |

If the assign subject of the competition was album covers, this is a great image.
I hope you got a good score. You deserve it.
In another submission/comment I made before, I did address the issue of some one else credit. Mike you are asking to explain "someone else's artwork!" The photograph you are showing, is a copy of 3 pictures or the art of some other persons.
Again like I have said before. This is a very controversial topic. I love to hear more. Perhaps our leader will open a forum topic about his. |

Great shot..... Sure tells a story, but I have to agree, it needs some creative work. Perhaps something in those penetrating eyes. |

Very artistic creation. Something to admire and wonder how was it made. Like others have said no changes here. Perhaps a horizontal flip? It is for sure cool. |

Very colorful and impressive to look image. I would like to mention that in competitions there is usually an statement: Not to take credit for some one else creation. Well we take credit for all the creation of 'Nature'. Yet we are not reproach for it. I have notice in a few of these groups that people takes picture of things in museums, statues or things in places of art. Then change it a bit or a lot.
Just like the instances of photographing graffiti walls.
Is it appropriate any of it?
I am sure, that the above lines are like many things in photography, is open to a lot of controversy.
Opinions?

Actually about a month ago, I saw a stained glass window with a big butterfly design on it.
I love stained glass and I have a few butterflies pictures, so Sometimes your mind wonders at 2 am and the idea did pop, what can I tell you? Right about the background. |

Good points, My though was that deep green gave it some distinction to the unreal. So The green will be blur to almost nothing. Thanks |

Same here.... My intent was to show a difference in time of life. Do we have the time today to sit at a rocking chair and watch the world go by?
Nice comments and observations. I was there at midday and I was able to reduce brightness using a polarizer.
Not much in the digital darkroom. When I took it I was thinking of Vance as he likes more naturalistic photography.
Personally I would have done more with PS.

Luck? Oh yes this a good luck shot, just by having the suject with light hair against the dark door. But luck is not sufficient as you need the skill to compose and possition in the right location and coordinate all the settings to get such image. As the others said the rail and angle of the houses, give a definite aspect. My only observation would be to play with the levels and take away the harsh of the day of time. Not to exceed as the walls next to the door will be too dark.
Does any one hears the train coming? |

Looking at this image bring feelings of how can I get there right now. The sky and lights present a great impression of a BnW.
Just Like Adi, yes the image could be divided and each would have its own valuable score. Yet I feel that as a whole remains as a landscape.
Perhaps a bit more lighting be added to right hand side on the mountains, would have balanced it bit more.
Regardless I would have love to feel the gentle win. |

The view in this image sure give a felling of being there. The details and sharpness are excellent. Just a comment and of course I am playing Monday morning QB, So if intead of a direct front, a move to the left and giving a more emphasis on the skull, would have added an additional impact.
I refer to the contrast of the white against the average sepia. |

As it is presented, it is an interesting image. I find it hard to appreciate it as a reflection. In my opinion a reflection has a source. I have a a bit difficult to see it here. In other words and I would have to like to see a bit more that just the reflection. Maybe I do not see it. I also would have removed the dark side of the left, because the right looks very impressive with trees above. I do appreciate as a black and white the range of grades in this image. |
